People might not realize this, but I am not just a smart *** guy talking beyond a Frida Kahlo avatar. I am a bedroom musician, and I have been one for quite a while now.
My big issue is that only a select few have heard my terrible, repetetive songs, and I am starting to get tired of the same old reaction. This is where you guys come into play. I am going to post links to my songs, and leave it up to you guys to laugh at how musically inept I am. That is right, YOU laughing at ME. There should be an option to stream or download, and if you download, you will see a few different names in the "Artist" space of the songs. Whether you see "Minyobi" or "The Outta State..." or "Greg," know that it is all me. I am warning you right now, there is no guitar based rock to be found in these songs. Everything I make is the product of virtual synthesizers, and a variety of kicks, hits, hats, and any other damned thing that makes a sound. I usually make original music, but lately I have been doing remixes of material from video games, which is what I'm going to post today. Also, I am no professional, so expect odd issues in the mix at times. With the introduction over, are you ready? No? Well, anyway... Song one: "Random FF8 Song No One Cares About." -Any of you folk remember the song that plays on the world map in Final Fantasy 8? Well, this is a remix of that song...a hip hop remix. If you consider all Final Fantasy music sacred, you are not going to like this one bit. I believe the orignal song is called "Blue Fields." Song two: The Space Pirates Vs Minyobi... -A buddy asked me to remix this a song from Metroid Prime, and I think it ending up better than I ever thought possible. I belive the original song is known as "Samus Vs Space Pirates," but I'm not sure anymore. A word of warning, this song is quite noisy. If you liked the original takes on this song, you will think I am quite insane. Song three: Shogun Via The Foot Clan Band -This is dangerous territory due to the ages varying wildly on this forum, but I don't care. This is a remix of a stage from the NES version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game. Older folk will remember this as the Shogun level, which was exclusive to the NES version. Not the prettiest, or highest quality song I have made, but I consider it one of my more fun songs. So there you have it, three of my remixes. What do you think of them? |

Fridah Kahlo's unibrow could have done a better job. Gtfo my intarwebz. D=<
(jp) The best one there is the TMNT Shogun remix. I loved all the old TMNT games, and this one brought back the 8bit Nostalgia (even though I'm only 15, lol). Keep at the music remixes, they're pretty interesting. Actually, I'm interested to see if you could make a high quality remix to the second part of the video:
It's Summon Night: Craft Sword Story 2 for the GameBoy Advance. |

To Cereal: (Runs off of intarwebz with tail between legs)...You know, I probably could do a better job if I didn't live by the rule that I can spend no more than 2 days making a song (Yeah, you were kidding, but I'm just saying...).
Thanks for your words on the TMNT remix. Since I finished it yesterday morning, I have been quite proud of the thing. As for the second part of that video...I think I am gong to have to consider it, as the song is quite NEStastic, which is not a bad thing. We'll see. To nzrock: I am not a big fan of trance, so your friend can keep on doing his thing with Fruity Loops. If anyone is wondering, my stuff is done via an audio tracker. If you don't know what one is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracker |

Song One:
Far too slow and very repetitive. Really detracted from the overall feel to me. Song Two: Did not like at all. This coming from someone who likes Sonic Youth, The Swans, WHitehouse, and Atari Teenage Riot, so I love noise. Intro was a bit too strung out and the overcompensated distortion just destroyed the song to me. Song Three: Not bad overall, need to watch the lower spectrum distortion. Best of the three imo.

Reply one: People seem to be on my case with that song. I hope their issue extends into the in game version of the song, for my rendition, if you take away the beat isn't that far removed from the original. Reply two: This song was made months ago, and was my first attempt at going for that sound. That being said, I thought the original version sounded like shit anyway, so shit for shit, though I really love this song. Reply three: This is where I wish I had better speakers, for besides the annoying static that accompanies the bass (which is a fault of the synth I used to make the bassline) I'm not sure what you are talking about. Thanks for the reply. I haven't been doing this stuff more than a year and a half, so I am still learning. Mastering is one perhaps my downfall. Last edited by Minyobi; 06-16-2007 at 05:40 PM. |
