It depends on how you define "fun" I guess.
If you would rather solo play all the way up to maximum levels, this game is not for you as FFXI revolves heavily around forming groups with other members (although it does offer some fully solo-able options, but not much)
But once you do get into a good group the fun times just don't stop rolling.
