Default Ping help

Recently on gunz i had the agent error 999 bug. I forwarded my ports and fixed the game so that i could now see other players fighting and also engage in combat with them.

The trouble i'm having now is with my ping. I am on telstra bigpond 512/256 unlimited and i am getting outrageously high pings.

In a 1 on 1 match or even a 3-man deathmatch i get pings ranging from 70-400. however when a greater number of people come on the server I get this:

Which is an otrageous level of ping for a 4 player game. it has gone beyond 3000 as well at one stage. When i had dialup i could play in 16 man matches and it worked fine with minimal lag. What is going on here? i have forwarded all the ports and it should be working fine with my decent connection.

I don't know exactly what the problem is, however i do remember rebooting my siemens speedstream 4200 modem the other day, however i made sure not to select the revert to factory settings check box.

I kno this is a big problem but any help with it would be greatly appreciated.
