[This is not a post on how to quit playing video games! ]
About CVGADD..."Cronic Video Game Attention Deficit Disorder" I just found out about it through TrueElement's thread after seeing how many of players think they have this new disorder it became an immediate concern for me... from my understanding of the description of his symptoms the problem is not playing too much game or "have no real life" but the problem is that a person with "CVGADD" typically cannot find any enjoyment or satisfaction in any of the video games he play. thus he spends more time on looking for new game than playing it. but because he cannot find satisfaction, he is always very bored and sometimes becomes hyperactive on game forums/sites and talk a lot. ok so basically, every game is boring for a person with CVGADD If my understanding is basically correct, my cure will need to fix that problem but it's gonna be hard, cuz we humans naturally will feel "bored" of something if u had too much of this "something" (aka repetition)... there is no excitement if u did this sooo many times. now...this is actually similar to school homeworks... Well, pretty sure if someone finds excitement in his math homework... that would mean he is definitely abnormal. ppl with CVGADD, in their minds probably thinks there is no point playing video games. That's why there is a lack of motivation sticking to a game. Often, most of them just wanna try as much games out as possible. In the past, that is not possible since not everyone is super rich who can buy all the games.... but now more and more games are becoming f2p, which give the rise of CVGADDs. in addition to the flood of Asian massive produced & cloned f2p mmorpgs, more and more players are suffering from CVGADD today... This is a serious problem! because if this continues... it would be the end of the world.... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...of warcraft! and other mmorpgs worlds! so how can we cure this serious disorder that is threating the existence of everything we loved...even Onrpg.com! If everyone suddenly is bored of mmorpgs and quit since every new game that's coming out is pretty much the same?! I'm not an expert... but I think I dont have CVGADD even tho I also play at least 5 hr a day(during school year too) so why am I not bored of these repetitive gameplay like the rest of u? The answer is...I AM BORED of these! If u ask me why play, I will tell u I play because I want to share my mmo experiences through my guides and stories with u guys... because if u guys found them useful or entertaining...that makes me feel happy and appreciated. I also play because there is a sense of achievement when u reach the goals that u worked so hard on in the games. I believe this sense of achievement is the true happiness, it is the same with real life =) also I get to brag about my achievements, hehe ^^ You see where am I going now? These things above are my motivations of playing video games. I'm sure everyone is different and have different motivations. So what's your motivation? anyways in summary.. if u are currently suffering from CVGADD my advice would be 1. set reasonable goals every day if u train like u wannt get to the highest lvl in the first day, u will just end up quitting the game... 2. do something different in the game ex. help a newbie! u will make a new friend and it's rewarding =) works for me I also do my own "event" lol be creative 3. play with ur friends if u are lonely in the game, u r more likely to quit so find some friends to play with you 4. share ur mmorpg experiences like me (include bragging of course hehe) 5. if u r still feeling bored of mmos, just give sleep a try =) it should work like wonder I started playing MMORPGs 5 years ago because I had too much time... probably like most of u here I think... I do homeworks at school, that's why I have too much time sitting in front of my comp...I know it's not healthy, but hey, life is short anyways, it's better to do something u enjoy! also remember, time you enjoyed wasting, is not wasted time! Hopefully u r at least a little bit entertained after reading my post and I hope my post is thought provocative. I always think that mmorpgs are like mirrors of our real world. I still believe that's the case today. You can learn a lot from mmorpgs that will still work in the real world. thx for reading! (I will fix mistakes tomorrow, if there is any. g2g sleep now) best regards ![]() meteo ------------------------------------------------------------------------- WARNING! If u dont send this post to at least 10 persons who play mmorpgs u will nv get any good loots in any of the future mmorpgs u play! u will fail composing or upgrading ur equip everytime! u will lag in every mmorpg that u r going to play! ur comp will crash every time u start playing mmorpg! AND if u have good items, ur account will get hacked! jk =) just wrote that for fun... I hate chain letters too~

and then of course, in part 2, WoW comes before everything else. i kind of stopped reading there, eventhough this has absolutely nothing to do with the idea of this thread, the first thread or post who exlaims the position of WoW is just a "deposit-thread" to me ... *Bring up the flamethrowers!* |

The original post hit the bullseye. Except for the cures part and WoW part.
We don't need any more mass produced Korean grindfests. |

I don't think I have this disorder but I play games for 10+ Hours a day >..> Yeah I have no life...I used to have one but I killed it. Why do I play games? The answer is simple , I'm bored with my real-life, it sucks ;p I wish life was like a game(a P2P one >..<, no item-malls ;/) , when everyone would have same possibilities to improve, advance through it, but it's not and it'll never be like that. In a game everyone can become rich, popular, you don't have to worry abour your looks. In RL you alot of people are poor/starving/ugly/not accepted by the community etc. Back to my question. Playing games makes me forget about my worries. But the biggest minus of games is that there's always an end. An end for how rich can you be, how good can you be etc. In real-life there is no limit, you can proceed further and further every single day and the only thing you need is motivation! I myself lack this but oh well. I'm sure some of you feel similar.
