well. personally, I really like VG. I play it on Shidreth, and I really enjoy it. yes, it WAS rushed out. I played it at launch, and it was terrible, however, many bugs have been fixed and patches are being released constantly. There's also a server merge coming up, which should fix population issues, since the world is absolutely MASSIVE. And, please people, don't judge a game by females from ONE RACE EACH. VG has 19 different races >>;. Honestly, if you're sceptical about it, try and get a 10 day buddy key for it first, I'd give you mine, but I already gave it to a friend.
I've played WoW and LOTRO. WoW's community is shit. LOTRO is an EXTREMELY well made game, but one of the most shallow mmo's i've ever played. i'm ALL for story driven online games, but not story driven online games that feel more like single player games. |

Yes, Vanguard is an incredible game. Aside from Everquest 1, it's the best MMO I think I've ever played (and no I'm not saying it's perfect, far from it actually, but it's better than every other shitty game out there.)
It is not for the casual player though, it's a hardcore game with hardcore consequences. Incredible though, so much fun. If you can get past the bugs, please check it out, you won't be dissapointed. Edit: Hey! I play on Shidreth too!

^ Kinda defeats the purpose of a MMOrpg then doesn't it? ><
Vanguard was well..a "big load" when I tried it. No..literally. 18gigs of space for a game? bleh. Personally..i like the idea, but I think the devs tried to do so much with so little. They ended up having a lot of "things" in the game, creating a "vast world" but it'll take them a long time to shape up that many things. I'll definitely check back on Vanguard in another 6-12 months if it isn't dead. But I don't want to play a game that's fixing itself slowly like it's in Closed Beta when it's already retail and has people paying monthly. |

Shouldn't this be moved or something? afterall, its not even about any free games. And yeah, I totally agree with most people here, Vanguard was released way too early, I couldn't believe it when SOE announced its release the following week after I beta tested, it was way too soon and way too early. As for WoW, yeah its got, without a doubt, thee worst community going. Sadly, yeah, MMORPGs are starting to lack alot, there's alot of spoiled bratty players who just want to give you a hard time and most of em are a cop out joke of each other where you'd be better off playing a free MMORPG since its the same as what you're paying for with pay to play games. If you want my advice,go out there and buy an RPG, with online multiplay if you really must, like.. oh I donno.. Dungeon Siege 2, or Diablo 2 or maybe Neverwinter Nights 2. Play the game, enjoy it, **** all these retards who wanna spoil RPGs for everyone else, thats what I say. Anyways, now I've had my share of venting, there you have it. Good luck with whatever you decide.
