i don't know. I got Lotro because i really, really hate WoW and i had really mixed feelings about Vanguard (one side being the performance, i never buy a game that hardly runs on my system and on the other side there's the bug issue)
I'm pretty glad with Lotro, it has a lot of feeling, a large world (yet pretty dimmed atm, as more areas are implented with future content updates). Graphics, well, can't argue with that, one of the more qualityfull graphics for mmo's out there. it might not look as good as vanguard maxed out, but it still looks pretty atmospheric. although u sometimes get the feeling that VG looks kind of "platic foil-wrapped" like Doom III. nevertheless, i don't usually look at reviews but look at the collective player ratings. If a game has a significant amount of votes more than another one, i'll probably check out that one first. |

Get VG, fothermucker! It's the best game for sure! It's huge though, 16gb, but the world is three times bigger than WoW.Seriously. I have some screenshots too, I'll post them. 56k warning though! rofl. Very mature and serious community, but don't try to RP on a PvP server they will eat you up.
These shots are taken with the hgihest possible quality. I have 109 screenshots, so if you want some more I'll post em' :P ![]() ![]() ![]() These are taken at medium quality (Some PvP a few days after I got the game) ![]() ![]() We've taken over an enemy clan's house ;D ![]() ![]() Just hanging around, just killed some dudes in a tent :P

Nice but I'm already playing L2 so I'll buy that when I'm done with L2.

Vanguard's graphics kind of remind me of EQ2, just a little. I think it's because of the sheen the characters have (I agree, Doom III esque). Not sure if it's bad or good.
It's just sorta there lol. Also, none of the other games have pirates that shout "YA'AR, THAT'S WHAT WE BE NEEDIN'!" at the noob island lol. I would propably pick LOTRO from my experiences cause it's the only one I haven't played. :B |

Before you can play Vanguard, I suggest you test it first with trial before getting the account. Some computers simply can't run it and you'll get lag and FPS problems (0-10 FPS). There was a recent patch out but it only fixed SOME of people's FPS problems. If you do get to play though, grats! I heard some really loved this game. I recommend you try and tell me how good it is!
I heard LOTRO is very well done. However, I also heard you get bored in 1 WEEK? That after you've done everything, there's simply NOTHING to do. Although it's a nice game I suggest you look it up some more. WoW, why people diss it? WoW won't be as good in the beginning, but when you begin instances like Scarlet Monastery etc. It gets really fun. Although you might not like it, but I do. As for the community, it gets kinda funny. I just ignore it lol. Get an endgame raiding guild and you'll already have great friends, which is like the only community you'll ever need. Community is actually a lil' bit better since there's less guild drama now.. it was NEVER that bad. |

you have "heard" you get bored of Lotro in one week ...
here's the reason why those people are bored. When the game was released, about a week and a half, the forum started being spammed with threads saying "what now?", made by people who already reached the level cap. a.k.a. rushers. don't take their opinion that serious, they deliberately rush through the game in a few days, just to spam they've seen it all. if you're a casual player you'll take several months to have "seen it all". i'm currently lv 32 and there is a lot i haven't done yet. anyway, is that vanguard on the highest setting? now i have to revise again, i'm really sorry, but that actually looks pretty ugly :s this is Lotro in high detail (pre-SoE which had a graphical update) *note: these aren't fake, you can de-HUD in lotro using F12 a close up of my alternate character, the foxy elf. ![]() a panorama shot of the Lone Lands. ![]() this is Shores of Evendim, a new area from the expansion, not mine though.

Well, Sigil, the guys who made Vanguard, had almost no budget at all while (whoever developed lotro) had like 389759347589347583*345435$ to spend on their game. Give Vanguard a year and it will eat up anything in graphics and gameplay.
Sigil even had to releases the game a couple of months too early because they ran out of money. And have you read about the engine that they made the game with? THEY COULDN'T EVEN SCRIPT WITH IT!! (Well, not the stuff they wanted, and not in the language they wanted.) |

didn't Sony take control over the project? lack of money seems nowhere near ..
anyway, Turbine doesn't have the wealth flood Blizzard does, but it managed fine. Also, i STRONGLY doubt that VG will ever march out the negative spiral it is in right now, compared to other games. it doesn't matter how many patches it will get, sure, it will get better, but for the moment, vanguard is known to be "that game that has a lot of bugs that noone can run decently", so most people opt for something else. It's only self explenatory that people who stay away from vanguard don't follow the update process. If you ask, Vanguard will get forgotten instead of rising up in the future. It's really easy, an MMORPG usually builds up on the initial player database, rather than a miniam amount of players building up as the update process happens. It lacks players now, and it will lack players in the future. In fact, i would almost dare to bet that Vanguard will close down eventually when games like Warhammer Online will be released (only to point out that Warhammer Online already has a pretty vast playerdatabase) |
