Default Anyone have a spare buddy pass? I also have questions.

Ive heard alot about this game and i like most of what I hear. So I was hoping someone had a spare buddy pass.

Just to make this a worth while thread, I have a few questions.

First, is the questing really different than other games? It seems boring when the only quests you ever get are kill this, and collect that.

Is the world as big as I have heard? Having a big world is definetly a plus for gaming.

Is everything really party based? I find doing things in parties on other games is fun, and doesnt seem to get boring very quickly.

The questing in this game is fairly generic, and doesn't do anything to stand out.

However, gameplay does not revolve around questing. The leveling process is a grind, and yes, past level 10, you'll be (with a few exceptions) grinding in a balanced six-man group the whole time (tank, dps, healer. Becomes more complicated later).

The world in FFXI is absolutely huge, there's no question about it. There are many different places to see-- all of the deserts, forests, and snowy areas are there, the latter complete with aurora borealis... and, some of them are absolutely beautiful. On top of that, there are many otherworldly zones, that take place in different "dimensions", or simply completely fantasy-inspired areas.

The game, unlike other MMORPGs, revolves around several (linear) storylines... a possible total of 6 or 7 to experience, for each nation and expansion pack. These stories are told through cutscenes, NPC interaction, and progress through "missions".

I didn't think making a new thread would look good, so I figured I'd just request here.

Like the thread OP, I was wondering if anyone has a spare buddy pass I could get. I've always wanted to try out FFXI, but never got around to it. I'd certainly like to try it, before I buy it.

Even if the thread is months old
