Alright, I just finished episode 26 and it made no sense at all. He thought everyone hated him, and then at the end he realized he had a place in the world? And I've been spending like the last half hour trying to find The End of Evangelion and I still can't find it.

I thought it was he turned out to be God or something and it was all just a dream? I never watched the OVA ending or whatever it was because the actual ending confused me so much too..
Also didn't the world technically end because they kept going 'if they touch the original it will destroy the world' and it was touched.. I wish I wasn't so stupid <3 |

(This is my interpretation of the ending, below) Don't read if you don't want to chance some spoilers. The whole point of 25 and 26 (Series ending) is the fact that Shinji (And pretty much all of the other characters) are totally ****ed up, and before the complementation process can be completed, they have to deal with all of these issues, and be at peace with themselves. Therefore the episodes are pretty much entirely related to different psychological problems the characters are trying to overcome. In 26, Shinji finally gets through his depression and accepts instrumentality (Complementation) as a solution, thus the scene were everyone is "cheering" him for his choice. Unlike in EoE, he took the easy way out and decided the world would be better off in the fake happiness of Instrumentality, whereas in EoE he decides that he wasn't going to run away, and rejects instrumentality. The connection between 25 and 26 and '25 and '26 (Series ending and movie ending) has been hotly debated since EoE first came out. There are a lot of different views, this one is mine. You probably won't understand what I'm saying until you watch EoE anyway, but maybe this will help a little.
