I'm Filipino but i live in America, I was raised in the Philippines tho.
I do not understand why people think Filipinos are 2nd class Asian or that they are the dumb Asians. I mean at least people in our country are not dumb enough to commit suicide just because they get a 75% in their report card. Have you been to Tokyo?! Man, that place is depressing.... the media always portrays Tokyo as a happy land but it really is not. Just like how people say that the Philippines aren't as advance as any other western country even tho its a 3rd world country. And I studied there when I was in elementary school, I moved in America for junior high and I'm studying in HS right now, and the lessons we take are like 4th grade stuff in the Philippines so I do not ever study for test anymore. ^^ |

Firstly, if races don't count for shit, then why is it that almost all the runners are black these days? If you look at the average, you'll probably see that the black runners are superior to the others.
Race. If you did similar tests on other matter you would probably see similar results. Of course, it's racist to claim that one race is superior to another, because who is to determine what is really superior? But when it comes to single qualities you'll probably see that some races has an advantage. Like how those from eastern asia sweat less than white people. Like how ducks can fly, and dogs can't. Secondly, all people are products of their culture, be it by joining in, or rebelling. There is no problem with stereotyping, because most people stereotype themselves because they have a need to fit into a culture or sub-culture. This is why people wearing rap/hip-hop style clothes, often listen to hip-hop, and people who dress in goth style listen to gothic music. People are excellent at putting themselves into a certain box, and if you have some experience of the ways of the world, accurately stereotyping people really isn't that hard. Of course there is bound to be "the odd one out" and surprises, which is why one should keep ones mind open, but if you're well informed and experienced, then making a rather accurate statement about a group, or individual belonging to a certain group, is not that difficult. Most people only react negatively to stereotyping because they are biased, and know inside that they(or friends or loved ones) fit into the group being stereotyped, and so feel insulted. However, one should always be carefull about trying to stereotype a very large group of people such as an entire race, because as I said, people are shaped by their culture, and so a viet living in europe might not correspond at all with one living in vietnam. One should keep in mind that physical traits are probably the only traits that can be atributed to race. As to the level of intelligence among for example japanese, that has something to do with it's hard deucational system and culture. If people weren't so god damn obsessed about putting themselves into a group and joining a stereotypical base-pattern, and had a little more self-confidence, people wouldn't feel so damn insulted whenever someone made an accurate or inaccurate statement about them, and just move on. |
