You could smash the tree down,and use the handel of the saw to pound the nail into place.

They're created that way for ergonomic purposes. Someone would eventually get a contraction pounding nails into the wall with the handle of a saw, and soon enough, weakened wrists from returned shockwaves as a result of hitting the tree's base.
