are you a beginner at kstyling? I used to mess up SS in the same way when i was a fledgling. I say just keep working on the standard SS method, jump -> dash -> slash -> hold slash -> change to gun. My best bet is that your timing with the gun change is off, just keep trying things until you get it right.
