Rockstar rep says 'complete experience' only on 360 - plus new screens and details

It's no secret that the long-ago announced downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of the game. According to Rockstar Games spokesman Hosi Simon, however, there won't be any consolation prizes for those who choose to buy the PlayStation 3 edition instead. When asked during a preview of the game (which you can read about here, if you haven't already) whether there would be any advantage to owning the PS3 version that could rival the 360's exclusives, Simon said, "not that I can think of."

"They're identical games," Simon continued. "We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want.

"But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose," Simon said.

Downloadable episodes or no, the game looks set to be an incredible experience on both platforms, and we've got a new batch of GTA IV screens and art to prove it (just hit the Images tab above to see them all). To find out much more about what you can expect from this sprawling underworld epic, check out the meaty details revealed by our latest preview.

If I get it I'll get it on PS3 just because the GTA experience tends to be better on a Playstaion.

But from all the new screenshots I've been seeing for the AAA game that it is, it's looking pretty ugly.

Why complain? It's a far cry from the PS2's GTAs. And if it looked any better, your PS3/ 360 might just explode.

Well in the "Looking For A Special Someone" trailer it looked pretty rough, although I'm not doubting that Rockstar will fix it.

It's like Socom, even for PS2, both GTA and socom were above average, graphically.
I'll probably get it for PS3, since I don't want to use too much my 360 before Lost Odyssey comes out(just in case it breaks..). And I could care less about these episodes anyway, what matters is the game.

Yeah, it's supposed to have more because Microsoft payed a good 50 mil for the episodes (which should be downloadable over Live). And your 360 should be covered. Unless M$ is only watching out for it's own Nation.

I doubt it is, I bought an used one( wich was 1 month old, the guy at the store said the owner sold his Wii and 360 for PS3..).. PS3's price kinda strikes, so I didn't had much choice.. So I now fear the red rings..

Never buy a used death trap. >_<

But if you have the information, I suggest you call M$ and ask about the coverage.
