Default Pope: Creation vs. evolution clash an ‘absurdity’

I've never been a too big of a fan of the current pope, this is something I can get behind completely

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19956961/
Quote:
Pope Benedict XVI said the debate raging in some countries — particularly the United States and his native Germany — between creationism and evolution was an “absurdity,” saying that evolution can coexist with faith. The pontiff, speaking as he was concluding his holiday in northern Italy, also said that while there is much scientific proof to support evolution, the theory could not exclude a role by God.

Lost mine at age 8, when I realized how boring church was.

I completely agree. Where in the bible does it say otherwise? It says god created the earth, but it never said how long it took, beyond "seven days", and I don't prescribe to the idea that God lives to our timetable. Chances are "Seven Days" to him is about a hundred million years.

I've been saying this all my life, but no one ever cares to listen. Hopefully some people will now that the pope has said it.

Tbh, this is just the catholic church trying to bend their beliefs so that they have something to defend themselves agains when someone says "That makes no sense".

The church really does enfuriates me with their lies and deception.

Btw MK, to the Bible's logic, 'God' made the universe in 0days, 0hours, 0minutes and 0seconds (0 seconds, to the infinite) as it does not state when he created time, before or after the beginning of Earth.

It's not a lie if you have faith. If anything, christians should be infuriated by people like you that call their religion a lie.

I couldn't watch that video. It was boring...

Anyways. This pope is very wise. I like him. At least he's better than the popes during the Crusade era.

Sorry to sound like a 70's hippy, but religion srsly is over-rated.

It's all fine and good to have faith honestly, I have friends who are deeply religious, and I would never say something so dis-respectful such as "God(s) do not exist).

I'm just saying I have an opinion which is shared by many. Religion is a way to control people, keep people controlled.

Think about it, the catholic church is one of the most richest 'organizations' in the world. It pays no taxes, yet, it demands money.

Honestly, I could write you an essay, but I have a life. Just watch the first 20-30mins of www.zeitgeistmovie.com
