Default Regarding VLC media player.

Can you actually use it to stream a video directly from websites like youtube?

Why would you use it to watch youtube stuff?
1. Youtube has crappy quality.
2. Youtube already has a player for you to use, there's no real need for another one.
3. VLC cannot play all .flv files.

1. Youtube is only an example.
2. I have my own answer for that.
3. I see.

4 - You have not answer my question. So does it stream or not?

I've already said that VLC cannot play .flv files properly.
Second you'd need a stream link, go get one or else you can't stream anything.

Regardless if VLC can play .flv's, you can get converters.

You could download the Video Downloader extension for Firefox ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390 )

And when you use it, instead of saving the video to your computer, tell it to open it with VLC, job done.

Then it wouldn't be streaming and that was what he wanted.
