Dude, why not Tribes Vengance. Also, the first Tribes game (Starsiege: Tribes I believe) is shareware now so you can get it for free and junk.

Not everybody's pc can run fear combat, even if, the game isn't all that great compared to the sp game.
Now I recommend really any game for your first fps. You can try doom if you want to relive the fps growth, but it can get really simple (find door, find key unlock door, to next level) You can start new aged gaming with something like bioshock (recommended for 360) or you can try popular gaming with css, either way its your choice and it's not too hard to decide. My first fps was battlefield 1942, and I do not recommend the battlefield series as a first till you learn how to play with jackasses, and dumbasses, but you cant go wrong with hl2. |

There are always:
Warsow Nexuiz OpenArena Urban Terror World of Padman Those are all free to download, and all are either formerly based off full retail game engines like Urban Terror and OpenArena (Quake 3, along with World of Padman) or the Quake 1/2 engine with Warsow and Nexuiz. Urban Terror has the most "dedicated" playerbase, probably averaging around 300-600 at any given time. The others, range from maybe 90 players, to maybe 300 or more at times. Tremulous has a decent amount of players (and is also based off Quake 3 and the original mod) of about 300-450 or so. Some of these are great to cut your teeth on for your first FPS. |
