Default Apple to launch touch-screen video iPod on Wednesday

Yes, it's true. Apple is set to unveil a touch screen video iPod on Wednesday.

The “much anticipated” wide-screen iPod will be the company’s biggest weapon in the forthcoming Christmas store wars.

Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, is set to give a live demonstration of the new product line to a group of European journalists in London. But - true to technological form - he will not be there in person. Instead he will talk to them via a live video broadcast.

He is hoping that the new gadget will become the “must-have” Christmas present and will revive slightly flagging fortunes at the Californian based company. Demand for the digital music player that has revived Apple since its launch six years ago has fallen flat recently. Last year, quarter-on-quarter sales fell for the first time since launch.

Ta-daaa, time to send your Christmas letters off to Santa.

I really hope the clickwheel is gone. The only thing I really don't like about iPods is the lack of a custom EQ and having to use iTunes. I hate bloated programs.

Screw ipods, and screw Apple

Better music players for less, for the win.

Yeah iPods (especially the flash-based ones) tend to always be more expensive than the competition.
