President of SCEA Says Games Won’t Use Full PS3 Potential for 6 Years
That’s right, Kaz Hirai has stated that the PS3’s full gaming potential won’t be tapped 6 years. 6 ****in years? Then why buy one now? It doesn’t seem like a very wise thing for the president of Sony Computer Entertainment America to say at a point in time when they probably want to sell as many PS3 consoles as possible. “The power that we’ve packed into PS3 will really manifest itself in software titles that come up four, five or six years down the line.” Hmm..I don’t know about you, but in 6 years this generation will be 7 years old and i will be hyping myself up for the NEXT generation of gaming. Yes, the same sort of thing has happened with the PS2 (hard to code for, recent games are the most beautiful) but geez, you would think Sony would make it so that the developers can get the awesomeness out now - not when people start buying its predecessor. via PS3 Fanboy Source |

This should be obvious anyways. Take a look at the PS2, FFXII looks amazing compared to its predecessors and it was released quite a while after the PS2 hit shelves.
If a consoles true power could only be hit within a year or two... that console wont make it far because the big ideas people have wont be able to work on a console that is already maxed out... he just basically stated the obvious. And even then its only a guess, its not a fact. |

They might get an awesome uber game out. I'm hoping something like Golden Sun meets Summon Night D: |

If he stated the obvious, then how is it not a fact? But I do agree with you Sandman. It goes without saying, a consoles actual power isn't seen until developer's get more acquainted with the system it runs on and how it works. So you will never see the best game on the system come out right after the consoles release.
