well i have replaced internet use with playing guitar, now that i am addicted i thought i should MAKE a new guitar. Its a relatively simple possess expect for 1 thing. they way i want to make it... is that i want to put mineral oil in it(that doesn't mess with the hardware) so theres liquid in side it... but... i don't know how i would get quarter inch plastic or some sort of see though material to shape into a guitar :/,
suggestions? |

When you said you weren't a compulsive liar anymore...were you lying? Or are you just an idiot?
First of all, what kind of guitar are we talking about? Electric? Or Acoustic? Because if it's electric, there's NO way you're going to be able to put liquid in it without killing yourself. Even mineral oil. Why? Because most minerals conduct electricity. Second, you have to know exactly where to put the notches for the strings, and exactly where to put the frets, or it ain't gonna work very well. There are so many more things I can point out, but I think I've made my point... GOOD LUCK ANYWAYS! God knows you're gonna need it...

The only way you'll be able to achieve that is if you create a cast around the guitar or the area in which you want to insert the liquid, away from stuff like pickups, and put it in there. Like, you cutaway a corner of the guitar and create a thing plastic cast in it's place and fill it up. I don't recommend doing it on an expensive guitar. If you're gunna experiment then get a shitty Kay guitar. They can be pretty cheap.

you buy everything when you make a guitar. you basically just fabricate(you dont even have to do that) a body. I am going to buy the hardware, and the neck the nut and saddle all that stuff. i just really want this :/ anyways, i saw that video, with the computer, and computer hardware is much more complex than guitar hardware i think i can do this :P @slade Ok, but still leaves me the fact that ill just have a solid piece of plastic or whatever when i make the cast. I really just wanna know if the plastic part is probable in the price range i got. i only got 100$(after i got the hardware and neck) so yeah Last edited by Negrac; 09-12-2007 at 11:47 AM. |

Uhhh, you couldnt make a guitar to be fair, not from scratch.
Premade parts however you could but you wouldnt be able to put the plastic anywhere mainly due to the premade body usually already being routed out for electronics and pups. If you were to make the body yourself you could possibly cut out a design in the upper wing and place the plastic in there with the liquid. However, you would lose sustain as the hollow area will be filled. The second problem you would have is that after extensive gigging(assuming you'd use it for that) would be the possible chance to break the plastic and the liquid to go down the routing tracks and ****ing up your pups and elecs. Its not a wise idea to have liquid anywhere near your equipment anyway. Oh and, I forgot to add in you'd need to factor in weight issues with the plastic and the balance of the whole instrument with it implemented. Last edited by Necreon; 09-12-2007 at 03:10 PM. |
