well... its long since i last played (i am installing again now ) and lot have changed i guess, but when i last played i was a mage, and could kick allmost any warlocks ass (if they were about my lvl ofcurse).
anyway i liked the mage because it did great dmg, and had range attacks!
but for PvP i would choose warlock! they are verry good in pvp with there (de)bufs and there spells!
allso countless of times i have been hitting a fist in to my keyboard because i got feared!

this descusion have been up so many times, and there is no answer! no classes is better than others, it just depend on your style of playing!

funny thing, frost mages are gay and just spam their little frostbolt,lol and arcane/pyro mages are gay cause they got their instant pyroblast (if specced right) and locks are just easy to kill, lol. they got 1 instant fear and 2 cast fears? sorry they wont cast a 2nd fear on me :] i just have a hard time fighting frost mages :]

Hella not true, depends on what type of warrior your fighting, undead warrior WoTF>Beserker stance>Berserker Rage>Intercept>Trinket+MS+HS>Dead warlock.

I think warlock owns from experience, however mage is strong but not more than a warlock if you know how to play it and can tell i used to kill a lvl40-41 mage when i was lvl36 (warlock) which is 4-5lvls higher than me, the problem with the only class i had was a BM hunter omg is pain if u don't time your skills right to get him, if u dont get him then u 70-100% dead.

I have a simple way to put it, a mage is closely destructive as a shaman and a warlock is the darker version (yet powerful) of a priest. U may not see how they compare thru my eyes, but even warlock and mages can withstand a heap of pain before biting the graveyard weather it be pve or pvp.

If i had to pick, it would be mages since they are easier to control and their ice spells really help at times of pvp to slow down enemies. They will be really effective if u are pure ice mage.

Err no, thats where you're wrong. Warlocks resort to extremely cheap tactics to survives. They have an instant fear on a 5 or 10 min cooldown and their normal Fear has no cooldown so they can keep casting like crazy. Even with reducing effects, its definitely enough to keep them alive. Mages are capable of kiting and escaping with Frost Nova, that spinny aoe slow thingy, and blink. That is not withstanding a heap of pain, that is merely escaping from it.

Later on when people get their PvP trinkets, Warlocks are much weaker without their almighty fear to keep their enemies away.

Hehehe, well playing on private servers must have gotten my info all wrong. Im more rogue than mage, and i kill mages with my tactics. Besides, as long as i can stealth and take them down by surprise (including warlocks) then im fine being a melee class.
