It's really not that black 'n white. Some skills use physical attack power, some skills boost magical attack power. So depending on what skills you are using (not to mention the normal bullet is physical) will clarify what weapon you should be using.

As for spitfire everything is pretty much magical (autogun/bowgun).

The physical skills are:
Flashmine, Crossmore, Photon Bomb.
(Musket/Cannon)

Gunner (M) = Napalm Bomb
Gunner (F) = Photon Bomb
