Can someone please explain to me the difference between normal shooters(Like GOW, Halo etc.) and the so called "MMOFPS" games why aren't they both classified as MMOFPS games when the only reasonable difference that i have seen is that games like Halo and Gears offer both single player, coop and Room-based multiplayer....where as games like warrock offer only roombased multiplayer so really shouldn't they both be classified as MMO's?

A regular OFPS (Online First Person Shooter) is basically like most store-bought games, you can play in rooms against other players in pre-made short scenarios, such as CTF and Deathmatch (Halo, Warrock, etc).
An MMOFPS, on the other hand, is set in a constant, permanent world (Such as in an MMORPG). That is the main requirement, though stats and such are not always required (It's up to public opinion which is the "true" mmofps). Face of Mankind is what many call a true MMOFPS, not only set in a permanent world with an FPS perspective but also having stats, stores, everything an MMORPG has only it's played out like Halo. WW2 Online, (I've yet to play this game, this is just what I've learned from others) is similiar, set in a permanent world and played on a massive scale from hundreds of players at once from an FPS perspective. Supposedly Planetside is the same. Thats the best I can do.

Nope! There's also Huxley, Fury Online (I think it sucks), and Hellgate: London. Huxley and HG:L look pretty kickass to me though.
