Dream Theater is overrated. Everyone makes them out to be like the greatest ****in' band ever, just cause they're too cool to play stand-up concerts and instead have to play at venues like the Molson Ampitheater and shit like that. Petrucci and Portnoy are great ****in' players, but Dream Theater just does not have that "WOW" effect that you might get with another "overrated" band like DragonForce. Sure, there's a LOT of ****in' hype about DF, but when you listen to them it smacks you in the face.

Dream Theater just doesn't do that for me. Although I really do like Constant Motion off Systematic Chaos.

Back on topic, I haven't got Arch Enemy's new album as I don't really listen to them too much. I have a few songs but bands that strictly growl throughout entire songs, discographies even, don't really appeal to me. With few exceptions.

I actually didn't, I state my opinions about this album, it was boring and doesn't compare to AE earlier works, then someome came saying

"i would usualy start talking about sticking mah balls into your mouths then progress about talking about how goldly AE is but i alredy got far to many warnings."

It doesn't take a genius to see the OP is in no need of discussing about the album in a serious manner and forcing how "orgasmic" and "OMFG INCREDIBLE THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM EVER" with his attitude, something very sad, thus, his fanboy attitude clearly states discussing music with someone like that, it's clearly not necessary and thus a waste of time, if you see my other post I discussed about other groups in a good manner and not forcing my way in

yeah well, SX has epic lyrics with a prog style, listen to early works like twilight in olympus or for example the album odyssey, most riffs from michael romeo are prog in nature, pretty good guitar player

damn....even talking about them, reminds me that I could not see them, pretty sad

I agree a little on kamelot with black halo, but mostly they are power in nature, if you listen to their riffs and the drums you see a bit of a difference with most typical prog bands

I didn't said I DON'T like opeth or DT, I actually like most of the work of them both, but is the god dam argument of "they are godly, nothing is better, every bands pales in comparison" that really irritates me, they are both good band but there is not frigging need for every stupid fanboy to force the same taste and the same likings onto one, that's the overrated thing I've been talking about, every person that only listen to just one or two bands just say they are the best ever, but the fact is they don't, there are different bands for different tastes and there is no need to come insulting and arguing like a moron to prove a band is the best ever, thats retard and moronic

If I hated Dream Theater believe me, I wouldn't have go to one of their concerts here in my country , but I did go and it was a great concert with a lot of skills and a very good professional perfomance, it's just the stupid fans who thinks you are an ignorant because you don't listen the same as them, which is kind of hilarious

not really, I like most prog metal bands see above, the one prog band I like the most is not "metal" per se, it's Frost*, really mind blowing perfomance with just one album and then comes truly prog metal perfomance with the freakeys project (pretty good band, you should listen to them) with felipe andreolli, Aquiles Priester and Laguna, kind of a liquid tension experiment feeling in it

Forgive me I had no idea what kind you listened, I was outraged that you called Dream Theater overrated. My point still stands, Dream Theater one of the most technical and versatile band in the world. Tell me, how are they overrated?

After listening to DragonForce for a while, it gets kinda old. Everything sounds similar in one way or another and it kinda gets to me. Hard, pounding Metal is not the only genre of music out there. Btw Systematic Chaos really isn't the best Dream Theater album in my opinion, they have a lot of great older songs. Train Of Though and Images and Words are kickass albums. Metropolis Part 2 is good too.

but seriously, anybody who goes on rants or talks at great length about how a band is "the greatest band in the world" cannot deny criticism of fanboyism. you can have your own beleifs just dont make sweping statements that are blatantly going to conflict with other peoples taste in music.
