I recently saw Akira and LOVED it. I'm not a huge fan of Japanese animation (I love cartoons in general, I'm... Not sure if I'm particularly drawn to it, but I meet too many people who are like NARUTO BLEACH FMA HARUHI <3 <3 <3 and it reaaaally turns me off to the more current things.) but having enjoyed one historic Japanese animated film, I started looking a bit into the Giant Robo OVAs.

Are they any good? Moreso, who do they appeal to? What sort of things are in it? I saw someone who can split people in half by snapping their fingers, and I'm a big fan of the vertical bisection.
