i kind of feel sorry for all the people who now bought a geforce GTS320/640.
in about a week and a half, Nvidia releases the latest installment in the geforce series, the 8800GT. This card has 2 version, the 256 and 512mb. It was supposed to be the bridge card between the 320 and 640. but now Nvidia decided to amp up the qualities of the 8800GT. The current specs are clock/memory clock: 600/1800Mhz for the 512mb it runs on a 256/320bit interface, 256/512GDDR3, 128 streamprocessors (the equivalent of the 8800GTX/U), it supports PCIE 2.0. There have already been benchmarks where it clearly outperforms both the GTS series by a significant amount, shown here: http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=194951 This is the best part, the price ratings for the 256mb and 512mb versions are 199USD and 245-70 USD (which makes round about a 220 Euros for the 512mb). The GTS series will receive a newer model as well later this year, equipped with the same qualities of the 8800GT (i.e. the amount of streamprocessors, PCIE 2.0 support, ...) This release could not have come at a better time to be honest. that's what i'll be getting in 2 weeks |

yeah, the funny thing is that his architecture is twice as flexible, less heavy than the GTS, and even cheaper
, pretty much love it's not a giant construction brick like the architecture of the GTS, GTX or ultra, me myself I'm happy with both 8600GTS SLI, maybe i'll sell them and buy 2 8800GT if nothing good comes up by the end-beginning of the next yearthe funny thing is that the perfomance margin between the GT and ultra is almost NONE!, that's right...none, see here in one of the news for more detail http://www.gpureview.com/ Last edited by Mordar; 10-21-2007 at 03:26 PM. |

the 8800GT is just an amazing invention if you ask me. and it came right on time. Right before the beginning of the massive stream of high end games like crysis, the witcher, ut3, timeshift.
i am getting one in a week and a half from here, hopefully Asus has released theirs by then (Free games bundle free for all!) |

don't hesitate to worship me now
![]() @Ska-boy actually, you lost ... and how. paying 250 euros for something that has more features, nearly as close performance as a GTX (to even being outperformed) is a significant gain over buying an 8800GTX for 600 euros. Not to mention the extra costs for a badass power supply to get that thing running and the high end cpu and 2 or 4 gigs of ram to avoid bottlenecks. no, honestly, i'd say you lost |

good lord yeah...the power supply, that's one of the main reasons I'm not a big fan of high end cards, having to spend twice on a GTS,GTX, Ultra then spend another twice on another brand new expensive power supply I didn't really need in the first place, I say the 8800GT is godsend, consumes less power, is smaller (and thus you don't need a mid-huge tower case, that's another expenditure) and cheaper, I actually feel bad about buying my graphics card, maybe I could sell them to buy 2 of those

Well, I agree and dissagree. It wasn't my choice. If it were up to me, I would not have blown so much money over a fancy-pants computer but I came home from school one day and my mom told me she had just bought a new computer. 250 euro 8800GT vs free 8800GTX, I win

Are you sure thats the right price? I remember I saw something like 400$ for it, the 8800 GT.
Edited: Nvm. I was looking at something else. Super n0ob stupid question. Why do we need memory in gfx card again? xD Last edited by xXDeathzJrXx; 10-22-2007 at 12:11 AM. |
