"Ten years ago, the World Tree that protected peace and order of the world was being targeted by an evil organization called the Zakun (in Mandarin pinyin, it is za1 kun1 tuan2). The Human race led four other races in a fight against the Zakuns. In the end, the World Tree activated self-destruction to protect itself. However, the other races thought it was the Human race that destroyed the World Tree. Since then, a never-ending war between the different races began.

Ten years later, the main protagonist, Al, determines to revive the World Tree. Al and his companions begin their journey to seek the seed of the World Tree. At the same time, the Zakuns reappears…"

Ok, I'm going to be brutally honest here: MapleStory The Animation is cute, and actually very fun, but it's not the breath of fresh air that everyone expects from things like this (who expected?).

Firstly: There are some pretty big clichés here. The main character, Al, drops into the "I want to be stronger!" category of character clichés. This is usually a BIG turn off for some people, usually noting the fact that a huge precentage of Anime has already overused this mentality.

Secondly: The main plot is kind of funny, because for those of you who have played Final Fantasy Adventures (formerly known as Seiken Densetsu), it comes pretty clearly that this plot resembles Seiken's as almost a mirror image. It's not a bad thing, considering Seiken Densetsu's plot was fairly decent, but please... At least give your plots a little more creativity?

Thirdly: I like the art style. I don't know about some of you, but it really fits MapleStory well, considering it keeps its cuteness, while still retaining a slightly realistic approach to Maple Island.

Now although it's pretty good, you can DEFIANTLY tell the artists were getting sloppy in some places. For instance: During one of the running scenes, there was some weird clipping (at least I saw it).

And lastly: MapleStory is defiantly a cute Anime series. If you liked Ragnarok The Animation, or if you like cute Anime in general, I suggest you check out MapleStory quickly.

OVERALL: 7/10

And here I was, already putting alchohol on the needles to jam into my eyes when this turned into the worst abomination ever in the human race....

Guess I will save them for the next mmo gone anime....

but seriously, it is better then I thought...

haha...i downloaded and watched...one word...totally disappointed..like most of u guys said...i was expecting it to be even more terrible...but i doubt this will ever hit japan top 10 anyway..mostly worst rated i assume...why?? its anime drawing sucks

I honestly stopped watching after the opening of the anime. I love maple story but the anime is just bleh. 2/10
