I wasn't judging WoW on a private server. I was saying he could try it on there, of course its gonna be messed up on a private server, most private servers are.

Meh, the only problem I've faced on a private server is lag.

Though I haven't been in the high levels yet.

I'd choose FFXI, because of the community, and addicting gameplay.


Sure, WoW is okay, but it is a tad over-hyped. And the community can be tedious at times.


They're both totally different games.

WoW Over hyped? Did you browse this forum? A person reading this forum who had no idea what WoW was... They would think that it was the worst game in existence the way people talk about it here..

FFXI Better community? How so? I hear you dont even want to start this game unless u have people to party with...now how is that a good community? I buy the game but I cant get any where because there is no low levels?

Trust me, it is over-hyped. There are a lot of nay sayers. But like 5 times more people who say it's the best game ever.


The community it kind, and they're not so annoying, and talk about random shit. Yeah, you have to party a lot, but a lot of the folks are very nice, and actually know what they're doing.

Try playing a hunter. Last time I tried, Tame Beast didn't even work. Every time I logged out, my pet was gone. And the instances had maybe 1/10th the amount of spawns as normal. I just like the feeling of taking on hordes of beasties, but private servers don't do that.

@ TheTake; you might not have been, but telling others to play private servers is essentially the same thing. They'll play that and notice all the bugs and problems and lag, and be like "Wow, this game sucks" and never try the official servers.

I play the game, the community is better then any MMO I have ever played (not saying much)

If i want to find some one to start a new char with, post on WoW forums, done
If i want to find some one to start a guild with, simple, If I want to find a group for a instance/Quest together, simple
^ That is what I call a good community.

Some of the instances are a pain to get a group for, although I guess that depends on which server you're on.

its not over hyped at all. You are confusing hype with people playing WoW as their first MMORPG experience and thus start talking about nothing else. It is one of the most flamed over taboo words on the internet. It is a hot topic, but that doesnt = hype. If anything, there is more negative "hype" about WoW than positive, and usually for the most absurd reasons. People always tend to hate and pick on the popular.

No see theres were your wrong. They are 2 completely different things. If someone doesn't know that the service given in a private server has nothing to do with the actual official server, then something is wrong.
