also have you looked at the dates associated with those numbers? They had 5 million active subscribers back in early 2006 i believe. July 2007, WoW passed the 9 million active subscriber mark, and its going up still. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,13...1/article.html and no, active subscribers and accounts are a different thing. If you were to look at the account #, it would be a much larger number.

hamp u need to relax this was a general discussion and you seem to be taking it a little overboard especially when one person says something then your all like omg hes gonna get flamed......
and its not that the most popular game gets flamed its just that because people love the game so much they suddenly think the other games are crap ill admit it for once wow is a well made game for the new mmorpg players and the experienced i just preffered final fantasy cause im a final fantasy fan and i liked the game theres no in between with wow you either love it or u hate it |

I do not love or hate WoW. I will admit the facts concerning it, but I played enough of the game to know that i had my fill. This doesnt change the quality of the product though. The same goes with FFXI. I also have been a FF fan since the first nes game and have logged in over 300 hours for FF7 alone. Does this mean, because i am a fan that FFXI is suddenly a great game? Not at all. Games are game, they are only as good as they were designed to be on a factual level, and how much fun a gamer gets out of each game, on a personal level. I neither hate nor like FFXI as well. It is possible to be absolutely in the middle as far as how much enjoyment you get out of them, but to say there is no inbetween of hating and loving WoW is absurd.

k,im gonna edit...
after an extense search in the net, last news i have found are: 2m USA players, 1.5m european players, and 4.5m asian players, for a total of 8m active subscriptions... that is different from the 5.5m offered in several independant sites, and also different from the 9m active players blizzard claims to have. also note that in january the asian subscriptions were over 5m,meaning WoW is losing subscriptors in their biggest market...
