I've tried WoW. Seems like an expanded version of a regular F2P game to me. I'd play it, though. It's pretty cool.
I really want to try FFXI, because people constantly say it's good, even when it's repeatedly flamed. Is there any buddy keys or trials going on?

I think a lot of people are also overlooking EQ2 which had a rough start when they released their game alongside WoW, but now the game is absolutely amazing. I saw you can get the client +30 day first month free for 6.99 at my local gamespot. Not bad. FFXI is not for everyone. If you want to try it, do a google search with the name + trial and see what pops up. Google is your friend. People have to remember that FFXI was made in japap, and the japanese are not quite yet accustomed to the MMORPG genre which is why FFXI is such a weird product. weird can be good or bad to some, but again it is confused as to what it wants to be.

Sorry, it was brilliant therefore I saw fit to quote it. Anyway, for me, FFXI, no contest at all. FFXI pretty challenging at times, which is what I look for in a game among other things, WoW was just too easy.

I'm playing FFXI currently and i've got to say WoW is nothing compared to this game.First, there's the community with alot of party based leveling. And not only that, the community is the most ownage possible.Very kind, the linkshell i'm in constantly helps me,unknown people will give you stuff if you are a begginer, they'll help you get to Jeuno, they'll help you with equips,hints...by far the best community in a mmorpg.
WoW community..Er,right you keep giving me reasons the community "rocks".No,Raids do NOT count as community factor in this case.Did you ask someone for hints or even, heck stuff in WoW and got an answer that wasn't "STFU NOOB!"?Well,i have in FFXI to a random person and he smiled and hooked me up on hints. When i asked him for 4k,he gladly gave it away. The gameplay mechanics are much better with actual factors that influence your damage such as weather, current day, weakness to a certain job/weapon and skills such as parry, evade, dodge, block, counter and even random hits that influence your damage such as 2x attack or a kick if your a MNK.Does WoW have all that?I think not. Plus,FFXI has that "classy" factor with the noble knights, the apparently cute but with other plans Taru Tarus and the wizbiz Bastokians. Now,it all depends on servers.I was on Titan previously and it wasn't bad but Fenrir is much, much better. PS: Does WoW have freaking Chocobo raising?I ****ing think not. People who think FFXI sucks are probably the lazy "I wanna kill this mob with flashy skills in 10 seconds" person. It's more than mindlessly spamming skills-It's all about teamwork. That's why people use Skillchains.Yes,it's confusing.Yes,it's hard.Heck, yes it's strange but it's a breath mint of fresh air!In what other game can you go Dragoon/White Mage and make your little dragon, the wyvern, heal you with an Healing Breath? PSS:You don't fall asleep in a party! It's not just stand and watch.I,on the other hand, tried WoW and i was so bored at the generic grind quests, the battle system and battle sounds/skills.

We all have different perspectives people! Most of these things we/you layout are just opinions! Heres what I have to say.
FFXI - Doesn't really limit you with jobs, I love job switching and being able to combine different ones at a low level (18). Yeah it forces you to party but thats where you get most exp, it's better than doing Quests all afternoon and trying to get to level 60 and rush. But you could be having fun while your at 1-18+ in FFXI. The community is amazing, how people tend to be nice to eachother. It's not "competitive" as Corasked says. If it was, then there would be flames all over the place, and no one would get ANYWHERE in the game, right? Auto attack is really with the melee styled classes, but depending what you see it could be turn-on/turn-off. It takes strategy and brains to get anywhere, when you kill something or do a quest or anything involving 2-6 people, you feel like you've done something good, and make a Bond With Friends. You pretty much need 1 character, the jobs are really fun, unless you want to experience another race. Its very satisfactory, the one downside is waiting for a party, it could take up to five minutes, but patience is the key if you want to get anywhere. The menu and cinematics are good a along with the cutscenes, the story makes you wants to play more and more. The Linkshell community was a great idea, allowing you to communicate with all your friends at once without being in a clan or whispering them one by one. It also helps when you need to do a quest or party that takes moe than one person. Again, the classes and subjob combinations are really fun. A lot of creativity from Square-Enix. Wow - From what I played, I really didn't know what to do. There was too little and too much at the Same time. I had 2 level 70's on their low level accounts helping me grind. In ONE hour I was level 3. Level 3, I wasted an hour doing constant quests and grinding, and this is what I get. The Quests!? kill panthers till you get 4 claws? YEAH RIGHT, its more like "kill 2000 for 4 paws and get a crummy reward". I was really stuck when I was on by myself, no one would heal me when I needed it. No one would help me when I needed it, or asked a question. There were real idiots in the chat, acting like they were the "win" and above me and calling me noob for trying to get help and advice. People telling me. "It takes 18-52 hours to get to level 50-70". Seems to me, the purpose of the game is to get to level 70 to do all the "fun" stuff. People tell me getting to 1-20 levels is a pain, and yeah.. it is, getting to level 5 is a PAIN. I was broke too most of the time, couldn't buy any gear, the beginner area wasn't as populated. I guess thats why I couldn't get any help. The attacking is really boring, its more of a basic skill belt where you press F4 to do a buff or a powered attack, nothing Dynamic. I really expected something from it, it builds so much hype, yet its a disappointment. Most people quit the first 2 weeks cause its boring, or not worth it. I really don't know what to say thats really positive other than the Voice acting and cinematics. The graphics were really genereic, as I said the skill belt area is really In almost every MMORPG, along with the interface. I shouldn't have to waste my time getting to level 70 to do something "epic" or "fun". As you can see most of them are opinions, games have their ups and downs. But really, we're just pointing things off from perspective.

I'm done quoting you. You speak of a WoW I am not familiar with, and your gripes are either redundant, or make no sense whatsoever. WoW is a very easy MMO to get into, and if you can't do that good luck searching for another one.

I've hated WoW from the beginning. I played a week or two
then quit and went back to my Final Fantasy XI. I don't know what it was and I'm not flaming just giving my opinion, but after a few days of WoW I was just like "YUCK!" and never played it again. Final Fantasy XI has up to date patches and events goin on all the time, and you don't get those whiny lil brats begging for things and what not. Final Fantasy XI for life. If you get FFXI and happen to be on Alexander PM Fip I'll try to get some buddies to help ya out =P BTW Gorillaz own nice avy dude xD
