Is D.Gray-Man really that good? I watched a few episodes and stopped because it was starting to get generic and stupid. It was like FMA, but with less depth and worse art.

Does it get better as it progresses?

I do have to say that D.Gray-Man, in the early episodes, isn't as great as the Manga in storytelling. But it gets MUCH better as it goes.

But if you don't like the Anime, I suggest switching to the Manga. Some people like it much better.
