Default A Question About Gaming Cafes

Ok me and some friends are going to be opening a lan gaming cafe next year and wanted to get a rough idea of what kind of games people would like toplay when they went to a lan cafe with a bunch of friends/by themselves we already know to get the very popular lan games from a steam package but was wondering what else people would play.

The types of genre will probably be fps and mmorpg but we will have a console section to for sports and other console games (especially the wii)

O and also if there is a lan gaming cafe near you do you use it and how much is it per hour?

Cause in the UK we dont have many lol which was our main idea for opening a lan cafe and i havent been to many myself.

Any suggestions and games given will be very appreciated

Counter Strike would be a nice choice, just because of this...

Some Chinese (I think this was in China, but not sure), played Counter Strike at an internet/gaming cafe for 16 hours straight. The owners tried kicking him out, and he ended up killing several people.

Though it is rated M, so you might wanna get some more user-age-friendly games. Though the mmorpgs would sort that out, I guess.

Offer Internet Access (general), CD/DVD Writing Burning, Printing, Photocopying and Faxing.

You will not get much Business opening a 'Lan' Cafe. Sorry to tell you this but you'd be better off doing an Internet Cafe and offering a bunch of other options would be better.

Of Course you can offer gaming, but get an Online Server to host any games you have and offer a choice of MMORPGs too like RF, WoW, Lineage II ect.

o wow thanks for the heads up on that we were thinking of making it a cybercafe as well since it is in the middle of the city centre so lots of business people wanting to check emails etc lots of gamers wanting to play and its also near a few universities

Make sure you've got a security protected internet connection so people don't just connect randomly. Charge a one time fee to connect to your router, and then hook them up with the password to get in. That's how most of these business are run, at least.

Place one near places where teens like to hang out, like a school or shopping mall.

As for price, it's around 2 dollars per half-hour. (Don't know what that would be in UK currency.)

If you do open up, I wish you the best of luck. The internet-cafe business is very location oriented.
