If you read further up, I was just taking a stance on the 8600 to get you to try to prove against it. I just took a stance to make comparisons easier to make and try to instigate discussion.
Also, where did the 3870 come from? We were talking 3850 vs. 8600. So from what i've read, the 8600 is worse. From that tech review it shows that the 3850 has higher FPS rates as well. So if the price will stay the same, that'd be great. I'll probably go ahead and change my bookmarks to the 3850, as it's equal price and a higher performance. It's mostly that I like the step-up feature, as I could upgrade from 8600 to 8800 in 90 days for only the cost difference. Which would be great if I feel that I want to boost my performance immensly. Another con would be the fact that it's very mediocrely reviewed in the sense that people have doubts about it, saying it's not the greatest and that it's seems soon to be outdated. Also I've never owned an ATI card so I don't know if it's the same ease of installing the drivers and keeping it updated. I also hope that the card won't go out of date quickly =-/.
