Default Patch 2.3 - Worth Returning to WoW For?

This question was asked on our forums and it\'s a question many people have answered, mostly saying the same thing - Yes.

The increase to levelling speed from levels 20-60 has reduced the grind dramatically, resulting in more and more players dusting off their alts to take up the challenge of reaching level 70 once again.

Before the recent implementation of patch 2.3, I (like many) hit a "wall" at around level 40. There seemed to be a lack of activities and quests that I was able to solo. Once you get in that rut, it\'s hard to motivate yourself to play on. But many first time players of WoW hit that wall, and simply stopped playing.

Will this change mean we will see people returning in droves? I think it might. And, as pointed out in the forum thread, this is certainly a good tactic by Blizzard. With the next expansion on the horizon, a faster way to level and experience the new content is surely tempting. It means that anyone buying WoW for the first time now will reach level 60 sooner and easier than before, therefore more likely to buy TBC and WotLK.

However, there must be some of you that don\'t agree that this was a good move. What about the skill of players, won\'t it be less than it was before? Will we see players who don\'t know their characters as well as they should, due to the shorter levelling time?

If you\'d like to discuss these issues, visit the forum thread here.

I'm personally coming back myself soon. And yeah it's because of the leveling speed. As far player skill and shorter leveling time, yeah it may have an effect (affect?). But I felt like I knew my rogue well enough by about lvl 55. Took a little bit of effort and "research" outside of the game but it was nothing any player who doesn't want to look like a fool at 70 should be opposed to doing. I quit before because it took forever to lvl and I just didn't have the time to sit infront of the computer all day just to get two lvls so I could catch up with my guild and still sit in front of my comp all day raiding (although I doubt thats changed). I think this time around i'll be doing casual pvp instead of raiding endgame.

I came back cause of 2.2 and i got better FPS but the second reason other than the bad FPS was slow lvling speed personally I'm in high school and am swamped with homework so i wont be able to play tons max 2-3 hrs a day and quite a few hours on the weekend i got stuck at level 48 and nearly ripped my hair off trying to get 50 so i quit now i started a new alt he's 15 so far and i haven't hit the faster leveling at 20 yet but its faster than 40 so the that was the complex answer the simple answer is yes i read from another thread lvl 59-60 use to be 200k and its now 150k or something of the sort also my friend tested he did 58-59 before patch and 59-60 after and he said it was a ton faster

so YES Start and play on draka

I knew blizzard wouldn't give us something without taking away something in return...

they gave us faster leveling 20-60 sure, but they also killed level 20-60s ability to hit ANYTHING, so it takes even LONGER to kill enemies, so I guess it all evens out again

yeah dude really, I haven't noticed a decrease in how long it takes for me to kill something at all.

I started again a little before the patch. When the patch came I was like 34 and now I'm 55 so it's a nice boost :P. Prolly reaching 60 this week.

I like the idea. I quit a while ago because I was bored of the game and I could not find groups because of my class and spec. They did some revamps that have convinced me to return.

I am not worried about people being unskilled because of less time to get a handle of the class before end game. I think the drones of new players when BC came out proved that no matter how much time they have to learn, most will still not know how to play their class no matter what.

...What?
They introduced better stats on gear, so now a lot of low-level gear actually has hit rating, crit rating, attack power, etc.- on top of stats that actually make sense.

Leveling is faster, gear is better, quests are easier.
And, I have no idea what you're talking about.

On another note, the amount of stupid players in WoW hasn't increased dramatically-- it's about the same.
That is to say, about 90% of the population from level 1-69, and a good 40% at level 70.
