my advice = don't build a new computer right now, wait until penryn. If you don't know what it is google it. It's coming quite soon.

penryns and phenomes are already out... the performance gain for the penryns isn't really that much.... its not worth it to spend money on that.

the 2.0 have retrocompatibility so you can actually use your pci express x16 with the new HD 3870-50 and geforce 8800GT-GTS

actually a good pci 2.0 MOBO would come out early the next year but will be worthless and expensive 'till end of 2008-2009 when higher series of VGA's come out (I'm not talking about 9 series, I'm talking like a 10 series or something like that

My mom just told me if I don't buy the computer this school year and get into a good college she would give me 10k to build a computer(Yes she is really serious about it and I am a junior btw).

Nehalem is going to beat Penryn senseless.

@xXDeathzJrXx: Well, then the decision is up to you. You could spend a thousand dollars right now and get a pretty nice gaming PC, or wait two more years; and end up with a Quad-Moniter, 64G RAM, 100 Terabytes, Nehalem, and DirectX11 gaming machine. (I exaggerated a little here and there.) Of course; this is all assuming you can get into a good college.

Whatever you choice; I wish you the best of luck. If ever you need help choosing computer parts, or anything related to computer building, check out these sites. The people in those forums will be able to help you a lot more then we can.

just a final word, 10 thousands dollars? man, you GOT to wait for a good college, with that kind of money you could buy a NASA-like pc and you won't never, EVER regret not having a ps3, or even a ps4, x720 or a nintendo WOOZOOMSWING
