I need to build a good gaming computer for 1000$
MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059 95$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127030 180$ CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115028280$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017 280$ Graphic Card: any where from 100~300$ Sound Card: less than 50$ Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136012 170$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136075 50$ RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145043 121$ Fans: less than 20$ Case: less than 100$ Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182017 50$ DVD drive: less than 50$ Questions Do I need more than 550W to run a quad core and a 8800GT? How many fans do I need? I heard 8800 GT overheats very easily. 280$ for 3.0ghz Duo Core or 2.4ghz Quad core? Can you build liquid cooling? Is it hard? How much will it cost? Is it worth it? When does Geforce 9 Series comes out? Any time soon? Is there a 8800GT 256 MB? 10,000 RPM or 7,200 RPM for HD? Can 2 cheaper graphic card in SLI beat one 8800GT? XP or Vista? Please answer the questions and pick a good case for me, and to give you an idea how much my PC suck right now... Edited: New questions Should I wait for the 9 series? Will the 8 series lower the price when 9 comes out? Last edited by xXDeathzJrXx; 11-23-2007 at 02:40 PM. |

mmmmm just get a dual core wait till better quads come out and as for 8800GT yea it does overheat easy, get like 3+ fan or get one of the new GTS models in december
vista>xp due to DX10 coming out. as for the SLI i recommend 2 x 8800gts or Crossfire 2900xts. I heard the 9 series comes out middle/late 08 Last edited by Fox Company; 11-23-2007 at 01:53 AM. |

I'm not really that interested in hardware, so my answers might not be right. Please excuse me it they are wrong.

I'd suggest getting a 8500 because not only will you be able to run DX10, but it's a lot cheaper then a 8800 GT. Quote:

_________ Again, not all the things I say are correct. Perhaps someone could double check. |

Piggy summed it up, I guess. Piggy, If we can still rep: +1 for you man, +1 for you... Btw, Death, if you want a better computer, search a relatively same topic, with me, as the thread starter. I too, had practically the same budget. The guys helped me out a lot. |

I agree in everything with piggy except in the 8500, that graphics card is worthless for most games, you must point higher than 8600GT-GTS and beyond to run every game on the market as god intended to
about the vista, it depends wether you like graphics over stability, I suggest XP as most DX 10 games don't even run well on vista quite the ironyand probably 2 8600GTS would be a single 8800GT bur for the price, it's better, cheaper and far more reliable to get a single 8800GT or even an ati HD3870 about the water cooling, it all depends if you are going for high overclockability, if you are not that kind of user, don't even waste your money on water cooling just get a few fans and you'll be alright I suggest the contrary on the CPU, the quad core has almost the same price as the dual core and it will lasst you for the whole next year and even beyond, but that's mostly about preferences, IMO I would pick the quad core (in fact I am planning on ordering one in december) |
