Dream Of Mirror Online (DOMO)
This is a review for Dream Of Mirror Online (DOMO), a fantasy mmorpg. The final score is calculated from all the points gathered in the review. I would also like to apologise in advance for any spelling/fact mistakes I made during this review. Game: Dream Of Mirror Online (DOMO) Homepage: http://www.gametribe.com (EU), http://www.aeriagames.com/ (US) Status(26. November, 2007): Closed Beta Price/Fee: Free GAMEPLAY - Character Creation(2/2): There are quite some options for creating a new character. You can switch between a few hairstyles and faces but you can also set your body size, from leg length to your arm and head size. Preety nice actually, it is like Perfect World costumization just without so many options. - Classes/Races(2/2): You can pick one of the 4 races which are quite different when looking at them. One of the race looks like midgets, one is a more "beastly" type, with a tail sticked to your behind. The other two look more or less human, however one of them is actually levitating. About the classes - there are many classes you can pick, all with unique skills. Further more you can have second classes which adds even more to character variety, meaning that there are many combinations you can pick and you can be still very unique. - Movement(1/1): Simple, its either click to move or WASD. A point for that! - Leveling(2/2): I haven't reached deep enough to tell how it is with the actual leveling, for now all I can say is that it is preety fast for an eastern mmorpg, one also has a lot of quests to do. - Quests(2/2): There are a lot of quests which are divided into main quest and subquests. Main quest is really great, it is challenging, it is not only "go kill that" or "bring me 5 of these". The main quest also makes you feel like you're acting in a movie, it has "movie scenes" each time you complete a part of it, which I believe is really great. Subquest made more of killing and looting certain items. The reward is mostly experience. Though overall the quest part of DOMO is preety great. - Skills(2/2): There are a lot of skills in this game, what gives you even more skills is the second class -> making 1 character full of skills from different classes. All the skills also have their own effects. However there aren't only combat skills involved in the game, there are also crafting/gathering skills in the game, from lumbering to meditation(yes, that's a gathering skill too). If you sum all these up, you get a nice pile of skills. Two points. - Items(0/2): I must admint that I'm not really impressed with the item selection. It's like in the most free mmorpgs, you have one set of armor/weapons for your level. Perhaps I'm wrong since I am still low on the level, but I don't think the situation changes a lot in the later levels. "Oh, yes, the item situation does change at higher levels, btw." (by elazulblack) - World(0/2): It is medium to big in size, however you can only walk on the roads and paths made, you can't really wander around a little. It's mostly... hmmm how to say it... linear(like in Dungeon Siege). - Beginner Friendly(1/1): Once you've made your character you spawn right infront of a NPC that gives you a quest chain. In this quest chain is the actual guide too, so I must say DOMO is more or less beginner friendly. - Variety/Specialities(0/2): There really isn't anything that differs much from other mmorpgs like DOMO. Yes it has flying, but a lot of mmorpgs already have a flying function(FlyFF, WoW, ...). Nothing to point out to be honest. - Overall Gameplay/PvP(1/2): It's preety fun, it hasn't become boring for me yet, however there isn't really anything special that would keep me playing 24/7. For the PvP part, haven't experienced that yet. GRAPHICS - Character Looks(0/2): The characters don't look really detailed but they don't look too bad. You also have options to get rid of that ugly outline and shaders and make your character simple and plain 3D. The characters are anime/cartoon-styled, now if you fancy that you won't have a problem, however I am not a big fan of such graphics. - Monster Looks(1/2): As simply detailed as your character. You will see the most evil monsters and raging beasts in forms of piglets, puppies and flowers. A bit childish, I must say. - World Looks/Effects(1/2): Nothing special about how the game world looks. Same thing about effects. I have to point out one thing though - I kind of liked how they made the cities. A point for that. - UI(0/2): Not too bad. Preety simple, which is good. However shortcuts for Inventory and other windows you need to open regulary are causing fingeraches - (-1)point for that. - GFX Setup(2/2): There's a lot of stuff that you can set under your Option >> Video/Graphics. From what to how much to display. SERVER/COMMUNITY (7/10) - Since its closed beta I can't really say much about Community. There are a lot of Italian and French people online, not so many english. However there aren't many people playing the game at the moment(closed beta, again). About the server stability and latency - it seems ok, I live in Central Europe(playing gametribe DOMO) and I have no lag nor am I getting disconnected. PRICE VALUE/CASH SHOP ITEMS (unknown/10) - Well the game is free, which is good. I won't count this section to the final score since it's still in closed beta. SUMMARY Gameplay 13/20 Graphics 4/10 Server/Community 7/10 Price Value/Cash Shop Items notcounting/10 Sum: 24/40 FINAL SCORE 6/10 Quick personal description of the game: "A game with kiddy characters annihilating cute pigs and puppies. Keu keu." Thank you for reading this review, any comment and flame is welcome. I hope the review helped those who want to try this game. A REMINDER: You cannot judge the game by one review! It's the best to just try it out yourself! Grable Last edited by Grable; 11-26-2007 at 04:14 PM. |

I still disagree with reviewing games in this way while they're still in CB, but whatever, it'll happen.
I like the format of it, at least. The point system you use is nice. Oh, yes, the item situation does change at higher levels, btw. :]

Yeah, I noticed that you even said "I won't count this because it's still in CB", so that's refreshing.
Most of the reviews we get here are by people who assume "CB" means "Finished Product". <.<

the game world map is not very small, however there are tons of dungeons. quite a chunk of dungeons are only available if you done the quest.
i did feel the review for graphic was abit bais. i won't say anything about the UI since the UI was originally for foreign country's keyboards which is why it ache so i won't argue the rating for that. as far as the other rating goes, i say its quite accurate.

Thanks for that. On other hand reviews are mostly based on one persons feeling, thats why I also added a reminder to my review, that you can't tell what the game is like only by reviews, the best way is to just try it. It's free.
