Default help with finding a grahpics card

Hi, my dad has offered to get me a graphics card for X-mas, as long as its $299-... which isn't that big of a deal since my monitor has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.

So i was wondering which graphics card to tell him, and where to get it for the best price.

I'm also not sure about my old one but i think its pretty crappy. its like a Radeon X600. which im almost positive is really old. Allright, thanks in advance for the replies

www.newegg.com

Cheap parts. Only good if you're in the US (Canado too?) though.

As for the card, if your other card was really old to begin with, and your motherboard actually accepted it, you might have an old *** motherboard. I just hope it wasn't AGP...

First, does your motherboard have AGP or an PCI-Express x16(note: This is different from PCI) slot for the grapics card?

The two types are not compatible. So figure that out, and then we can start helping you.

Download Everest home Edition
Search it on google its free to download
And then look up your motherboards name on the everest home edition program
Then search it up on the internet
then look if its AGP or 16x

Unless u know ur motherboards name then its easy only have to search on google for ur motherboards name

That's definitely a great card, and it comes in just within the price range you wanted.
