Anyways..
1) NPC Equipment stops becoming useful around level 40 ~ 50. Around that time, you start buying Set, Rare, and Unique equipment from the other Japanese players
2) Depending on what you want to be, there are a few of them. Launcher, Ranger, Spitfire, and Mechanic
3) EVERY NPC does something of importance, depending on the class you have. With Gunners, the most important NPC is Kirian. She gives you your best Gunner Skills and 2nd job advancements
4) Those are Ancient Jars of random crap. Don't open them unless you think what is inside will sell for more than the jar itself. Other than that, sell them. Always.
