ok, I've seen a few times while playing that when I'm wandering around there is an ocassional red line that connects from me to another person. What does this mean? Is it part of the relationship system in the game or is it something else?

Yea, he/she is ur soul mate. It's the relationship system, it usually pairs me up with noobs, so i dunno much about it

it doesn;t necassarily mean soul mate. Make friends with the person to see what he or she is. Could be a relative, or your worst enemy...

it is based off the eastern idea of people connected by red string of fate or something right?
well i first thought it was a graphical glitch, lol, next time i see it i guess i try to follow it and say hi

no your rival would be the same gender as your character because i met this guy Toku and i partyed up with him and we befriended each other and it said he was my rival so the love line and rival things are base on the Zodiac you chose when you made the character....

i chose a Ox because i was born on 1997 so my rival would Zodiac's be a sheep or was it goat?? it was sheep i think but try looking on the chinese calendar like this web
