Hi there,
I've been working for quite some time on a 2D online game engine. I originally wrote the engine in Java with the JOGL (JSR-231) libraries, but I have since scrapped that and I've been working on an engine in C++ utilizing just the base OpenGL libraries (gl, glu, glaux). I really have no idea what I want to do with this project, I just know I want to make some type of online, multiplayer, and two-dimensional game. What I am looking for is any kind of talents to partner with me on this project. I really don't want a large team of useless idiots, so please only contact me if you have something to contribute. At the moment, I am mostly looking for graphic artists (able to create quality sprite sets, tile sets, or user interfaces). I am also looking for creative individuals who have some good ideas for an innovative story that I can use to turn this 'engine' into a 'game'. If you think you are interested, please send me a private message or reply to this thread. Regards, Mike |

It's been a while since I posted this so I wanted to just say that I'm still working on this project. I got delayed for a bit with school work, but I'm ready to go at it again.
I have an idea for a game that I'm starting to go with, I'm still open to other ideas but for now at least I have a slight storyline to work from. I don't want to spill the beans quite yet, so if you are interested in helping and want to know more just contact me. I am still looking for one or more graphic artists who can create quality sprites and tiles. I've been working on a map editor that is pretty far along now, and I'd really like a custom tileset to plug in there. -Mike |

I'm still a little shaky on a game idea, I just really love online gaming and I want to create a 2D online game engine. So lately I've been thinking that I want to make a development suite that will allow anyone with a server, some graphics, and an idea the power to create their own MMO.
When I say development suite I mean a flexible and easy to use level editor, a simple but powerful NPC/GameObject scripting engine, a secure and durable game server, remote administration client, and a game client with a customizable GUI. I would like to propose a partnership with an RPG development team. I am tired of using stolen graphics in my engine, and having no creative storyline for when I do finish makes it hard to motivate myself. I will develop all of these tools for you guys to use for free, and in exchange all I ask is that you provide graphics, a server, and help me test the SDK to ensure it's a quality product that can really drive an MMORPG. Anyone who contacts me, please have a very solid game idea and/or some impressive pixel graphics. Your game will be the flagship game for my product and even after the SDK is finished I would like to stay on board and help create levels and write game scripts. As far as development environment, I plan on writing all the tools in C#, mostly because I am very familiar with the language and I can develop very rapidly with it. For the time being the client/server will also be written in C#, and the client will use XNA/DirectX to render graphics. Basically what this means is windows lock-in, the game would not be available for linux or mac users. Sometime down the road I may work on a C++ version of the client to decrease risk of lag (I don't think this will be a huge issue, but I will cross that bridge when I get there) and allow users of other platforms to play the game. The tile editor currently saves maps and other game information in standard XML format, which will make it easier to rewrite the client in almost any language. I'm currently working on the tile/script editor. Development slowed for a while because I've been busy with school and work, but lately things have picked up and I'm making good progress. If you are interested in helping with the project, or you think your dev team would be interested in partnering up, please send me a PM.
