Without further hesitation, Yume wrapped a piece of her cape around her shoulder, surrounding the arrow and with the help of her fellow mate, she got up. She looked to her right and asked.

" Think you can push the arrow through in a plit of a second?"

Dolosus shook his head at Alyssa.

"We're being paid to hold the seige off. The decision on how to do this is left up to me, the company's leader. Union commanders don't have any jurisdiction over us, except in extreme circumstances. Let's get going."

Dashal hadn't said a word since he had suggested they get the soldier to the Medic tent. He never talked much anyways, and even after Commander Dolosus had answered his question, he merely nodded his head. He just wasn't a social person, and being silent usually lead to people leaving him alone, so it worked out for him in the end; especially since he was constantly thinking.

He looked at the soldier who had been hit with an arrow as she asked him to push it through. "I need a hammer, though." he answered, and as he said it a soldier walking right by Dashal handed him a blunt mace. "It's not a hammer, but it works." he said. He took a piece of cloth out of one of his pockets and folded it into a bundle. "Bite down on this." he said as he handed her the cloth. "Brace yourself. This might hurt...a lot."

While the soldier was busy with the cloth he had given her, Dashal went to work on ripping the feathers off the end of the arrow. Once he was satisfied with it, and the soldier was ready, Dashal grabbed the mace. He held it at the very tip of the handle, trying to use it as a hammer, and swung it right onto the end of the arrow. A sickening ripping noise was heard as the arrow went through the back side of her shoulder, but her muffled scream drowned it out in seconds. Without hesitation, Dashal quickly grabbed the bloody arrow and yanked it out of her shoulder. She screamed again, but not as loud. He snapped the arrow in half and threw it on the ground, then handed the soldier another cloth. "Disinfect it at the medics tent, then get it wrapped up. For now, suppress the bleeding."

Dashal handed the mace back to the young soldier who had been watching disgustedly and joined the others already retreating.

((I'm not sure if you were talking to me, Icy, but I did it anyways. Also, sorry for the late post, I just wasn't sure what was going on...))

Jamas watched as Dashal approached with the mace. He had never seen an arrow removed with a hammer before, but he could visualize it. He also wasn't sure if it was a very good idea, but kept his mouth shut. The girl wanted it done quickly, and this certainly would achieve that.

Since he was already supporting her, he spread his legs, grabbed her other shoulder, and took the rest of her weight across his arm, leaning her over so that Dashal had a clear shot. Gently, he took her waist with his other hand and held her there as Dashal rid the arrow of it's feathers. He braced himself as the man readied his swing, and grimaced as it came down, half expecting it to miss and cave a hole in her chest. Within a couple moments, it was done, and the arrow was out. Fully understanding the pain she was in - he'd taken something similar himself, before - he snatched the rag out of Dashal's hand and pressed it to the wound in her back. Taking the other cloth out of her mouth, he placed it over the wound on her shoulder and told her to hold it there. Finally, he raised her onto her feet and placed her arm over his shoulder, getting ready to all but carry her if need be.

((Poor Yume, getting manhandled by us brutes.))

Dolosus walked to Yume.

"Listen, this is the procedure they're going to do. First, the'll pour alcohol over the wound, and then they'll use irons to burn it shut. Last time I checked on the medical tent, they were out of pain medications, and you'll be sore for a while. I won't be having you fighting for a while, do you understand?" He bit his lip while he waited for Yume to answer.

IC: Alyssa averted her eyes as Dashal raised the mace, and winced, clenching her teeth as she heard the dull thud of it striking home. She imagined Yume's face, twisted by pain, a stifled scream on her lips. She closed her eyes, and she was back in her room in the city, watching the doctors trying to treat Livio, listening to his fevered screams as scalpels pierced his skin. She could almost smell the mixture of blood, sweat and alcohol again, as she stood there in the desert, not hearing the whine of arrows and the distant sound of marching steel-shod boots.

Hearing Yume speaking again, she turned around and opened her eyes once more.

"Well, she seems alright, at least.", Alyssa thought, half-smiling at the girl's consternation. "She's obviously never experienced real hardship..."

"I've seen people treated in this way before, gir... Yume. There will be scabbing and marks for a while," "and pain," she thought to herself,"but all that will be left is a pale scar if it is done properly... eventually."

"...Probably," but she said this last under her breath, her lips barely moving.

"Yume, if you're afraid of pain, what are you doing in my outfit?" He oriented himself to stare directly at her, and his voice was quiet and sincere. "If you can't take a little pain, and a little scarring to your skin, then I can't let you into combat." He frowned.

Dolosus didn't wait for a response. "Jamas, the medical tent is just past this dune. Carry her there." He took his helmet off and ran his hand through his hair a few times while looking at the Imperial army. They were preparing to march. "Change of plans," he said, "looks like we're going to have to fight anyway, but not on the front lines. We're going to have to protect the medical tent." Dolosus placed the helmet back on his head, his face determined. "Don't tally now, we're going now."

Dolosus didn't wait for the others. He immediately started walking to the medical tent.

((Edit: I double posted to bump the topic and to let the other people know that they can respond so we can revive this thing. I said I would be doing this in the OP, and Pippin didn't object, so please don't burn me mods.))

With his own little grimace for the advancing Imperial soldiers, Jamas followed Dolosus, pulling Yume along. As they rounded the dune, the familiar sounds of and smells approached his senses. Even though the battle had not yet truly begun, there were still arrow wounds such as the one Yume was suffering being tended to; the applicants grunting or screeching, depending on whether they were old enough to have been shot before. On the other hand, there were several who weren't quite so lucky. Fate had driven arrows into throats, stomachs, and arteries, and the wounded men screamed with all of their energy despite their experience. Jamas ducked his head faintly at such men; it was unlikely that they would have the chance to live through the battle that was about to begin. But as much as he felt for his companions in arms, he did not let their pain get to him too much. A soldier had to see a lot of men die, and those who did not harden themselves to it did not last long.

Turning his face forward, he marched resolutely toward the nearest medic.
