Monster Hunter Frontier: Complete Guide! [lots of pics, long]

This is a registration guide for Monster Hunter Frontier! By me, SQEX!

1. OK, first things first, Head to www.mh-frontier.jp

2. When you get here, do this.

3. Next, Click what I pointed out.

4. On that page, you should see this. Do what the picture says

5. Do what the picture says here too.

6. Now wait for the email to come, when it does, do this.

7. Type in your ID and Password

8. Hardest Part here. Type in your nickname, and then use these 2 links.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katakana

^ That right there, is a guide for Katakana, you can use it to form a last name and a first name for the part labeled "Name in Katakana"

^ This your can use to write name in Hiragana, for the part labeled "Name in Hiragana"

NOTE: If your that clueless, copy and paste the symbols to the text bars, to for a name...

9. OK! Past the hardest part. Press on guys, only a bit farther! Follow this picture.

10. Almost there!

11. WARNING! WARNING! Pay close attention! Your aren't DONE! FOLLOW THE PICTURE!

12. Final Step of Registration.

13. OK! Head over to this web page.

ONCE DONE, INSTALL!! (You shouldn't need my help for that!

PART 3// VPN

Ok, with the game installed, you have some other things to obtain.

14. First, head to this webpage.

Download the file from here! It's the VPN you need to mask your IP!
(You can even use that thread as a guide for the VPN thing, but its in english!)

15. Once installed, Create a new vpn connection.

16. Follow this picture to set everything up correctly.

17. When everything is set up, Right click on the bottom, where I did in this screenshot. Click Create Virtual Network Adapter

18. Type in a name (Like i did, I typed in Monster Hunter Frontier. :] )

19. Go through any prompts...

20. Done! Test the connection.

The Connection is now working!

PART 4// HEAD TO THE FRONTIER!

21. With the VPN on, and computer clock set to the time of Osaka (A MUST!) Click on the icon on your desktop.

22. This will come up after gameguards done, follow the picture!

23. when its ready, some music and this will come up! Read the picture!

24. This is the title Screen, follow the pictures!

25. The next page is Character Creation! Choose your gender, and then your options! Your almost ready to venture out!

26. Alright, now choose your world and land. select those I highlighted. thats what we play on

27. OK! now your ingame. finally, I know. A Tutorial will pop up. From there you can choose your first mission.

Controls

Hold mouse in certain direction to move
Enter for most actions.
Left Click serves as enter
Right click=backspace.

To attack= w a s d
To loot (when monster is dead, stand over it)= Enter

The lag isn't to bad, and yes you need to keep the VPN on.

Yeah, you can only go to HR2 with a trial account. It's still fun though..

Currently Jerov is paying for it and he says it gets better. Once I get the hang of it I probably will too.

Ah alright, well I might try it, Monster Hunter always caught my attention.

then how exactly is Jerov playing with VPN off

well, it's VPN on now (I'm back at college), but I think it was just something special about my IP address at home (it's outside of metro Atlanta in GA).

I still play though, and yes it does get better with the harder hunts. Also, there's two parts. The first 30 levels are what I would consider now the 'training phase' where you fight, learn, and max out equipment. Then comes the real gameplay starting at rank 31 (you need to do a quest to unlock this) where everything becomes tougher, but you unlock unique equipment only available there.

Oh, and I wanna explain something about using status effect bolts, every time a monster is afflicted with one particular status effect (ie poison), it becomes tougher to do it again, all the way up to a flat point. So I'd recommend saving the serious status effects for when it's in what I call 'fury mode' (it's foaming, flaming, etc at the mouth).
