WoW is a very solid and well designed game. This is a fact. Some, including myself, would feel that WoW is one of those near perfectly designed products out there, something very rare in the gaming industry. Its solid.
That said, its up to the player whether or not they got enjoyment out of the game. Most I think tend to forget the fun they had getting up to the end game, but feel negative towards the end game themselves. WoW's one shortcoming is that players found a lack of things to do end game. Getting to end game is 1000% more fun than staying there.
Final Fantasy tried and failed on a few concepts, but it over all was a decent game, though hardly as solid in design as WoW. FF seemed confused at what it wanted to be at times and the forced partying was its biggest down fall in my opinion.
