It depends on how you want to play.
If you want to stand back and watch your enimies get slaughtered by fireballs falling from the sky while your horde of zombies keep em busy go necro. If you want to be in on the fight and be an all out damager go war. (Use adrenilene skills over energy so you have more energy for your ele skills). If you like to party and want to heal yourself and party members go monk. If you want to set up a battlearea every time you face a group of mobs so that you can AOE both enimies and your party go rit. (If you have factions). Those would be MY choices for an ele but all in all it doesnt really matter, you can change it whenever you want so if something doesnt work for you then change class.

I've been in a few top guilds (1st pagers on the ladder) and later on in my GW career I was the primary elementalist for GvG. More often than not my secondary was either Monk or Ritualist.
Skills from those secondaries that were often used: Monk = Aegis, heal party, draw conditions, convert hexes Ritualist = Deathpact signet, weapon of warding, the two weapons that steal hp when the enemy hits them (one is elite), and I think it was called wielders boon which allowed me to significantly heal someone with a weapon spell on them For PvE bringing along a monk secondary would almost always be useful - you could pack a hard res (PvErs only need 1 or 2 of these in a group, the rest should bring res signets), condition removal, hex removal, aegis for damage negation or heal party. You won't be using your secondary much for damage skills as your elementalist skills are much more effective (since you can bring them to 16 if nessecary). |
