if people do think that way, then its pretty immature. People can neither like nor hate WoW. It is what it is, a well designed game that might not entertain everyone. But why hate something that you choose not to play?
I do not love or hate WoW. I will admit the facts concerning it, but I played enough of the game to know that i had my fill. This doesnt change the quality of the product though.
The same goes with FFXI. I also have been a FF fan since the first nes game and have logged in over 300 hours for FF7 alone. Does this mean, because i am a fan that FFXI is suddenly a great game? Not at all. Games are game, they are only as good as they were designed to be on a factual level, and how much fun a gamer gets out of each game, on a personal level.
I neither hate nor like FFXI as well. It is possible to be absolutely in the middle as far as how much enjoyment you get out of them, but to say there is no inbetween of hating and loving WoW is absurd.
