WTF is a Dan lvl? newby nee help! ;(

Okay I'm new to this game and I have no clue as to what the hell Dan is...also how do I find opal to make the bronze sword +2 for the loyalty quest cause i'm lost with that quest! Thanks!

1 dan is = to 10 level > an so on
opal is a drop by mop > any mop will drop

i used to play, but switched comps. what the hell is a mop? i forgot.
