Oh, I think people would move. People have already moved over to Linux and Leopard due to the number of people who say "Stay away from Vista. It sucks." People do not want to be stuck with Vista for another 10 years. People don't want to use XP for 10 more years. They don't to be stuck with old things. They want a new operating system to play around with. Look at Ubuntu. Look at Apple. They all update a lot more than Windows, and each of their updates give something the user enjoys.

And saying that all Window users are gamers, which is why they won't move away from Windows isn't the smartest thing to say. Apple and Linux programmers all know about this 'game defect' they have, and they are fixing it right now. You have WINE for Linux, and Parallels/Boot Camp for Apple. And that's right now. In another year, I'm sure most if not all games will be compatible with Apple/Linux. Windows will no longer be the gaming machine in the future, and if Microsoft doesn't dazzle its users; many will just move on.

True, I had to reinstall Windows because almost every game I wanted to play was for Windows Operating Systems only. In a few years, projects like ReactOS will easily be able to run Windows programs natively.

And if you think about it: If you're not using Windows for gaming, then what are you using it for? *nix has many programs to rival ones for Windows, and that's why I have a partition for each; Windows for my gaming and Ubuntu for projects/school work.

I am personally unsatisfied with both Vista and this alpha leak of Vienna. The UI is very nice and all, and it's a familiar OS to almost everyone, but there's not much more to interest me in it.

Let me rephrase that: A GOOD majority of Windows users are gamers, not all of them.

Plus, WINE isn't that great. Most games and applications crash and take a good amount of knowledge to run if you're lucky.

Although WINE isn't very good at the moment, I'm sure it's going to get better in the future. These programs can only get better. Operating systems will only incorporate more games later on.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I said people are going to move away from Windows. You state that they won't because all gamers will stay on Windows. I responded by saying that Apple and Linux programmers are going to improve game compatibly issues. Then you go back to saying how Window users are gamers, and that WINE isn't great. What's your point? That people won't move from Windows?

First Lord Mog you have to face the fact that Windows Vista sucks. Yes I use it, and had no problems with it so far, but in terms of an operating system... I would rather be using another. Problems I face are:

1) Compatability with games
2) I find Windows easier to use than OSX or Linux
3) XP 64-bit is WAY worse than Vista

So I am pretty much stuck... at least for now.

Hoping windows 7 will be good, but I can stick with Vista until than. They will at least be releasing a service pack in the next year or so. Maybe if we are lucky we will get a 2nd one as well.

For the Windows 7? Basically, in my terms, Windows 7 is Vista except with most of it's compatibility issues and bugs fixed. If they release a service pack, and a maybe another, they better make it clean, or at least the standards of us gamers. Windows 7 better have 2 service packs, no wait, let's keep it at 1. Don't want it to be rushed.
