Hello all, I'm doing a school project where I have to write a 2000 word creative short story type thing in the same genre as Neuromancer, by William Gibson.

So in order to figure out what cyberpunk is all about, I'm going to immerse myself in it. Recommend me music, movies, anime, books, whatever.

Google is your best help i guess... i got the feeling that many people dunno much about that theme... might be wrong though...

check out wikipedia, they should have some information on what it is.

all i know about cyberpunk is that is has something to do with a high tech enviroment with poor people or low lives. some anime with cyberpunk influence would be akira and ghost in the shell( i guess?)

I dunno about music but I could point out a few anerme.

Umm, 8 man after (old), Ergo Proxy (newer), I think SEL (Serial Experiments Lain) has a touch of cyberpunk to it. I would have to guess what cyberpunk music is, some kind of electronica(synthesizer/vocoders/bit of geetar, etc)/techno I'd assume. Movies, a good one would be Blade Runner, Robo cop, blah I'm brain dead. Good luck with it.

Edit: I looked up your book by wiki. This pretty much sums up the cyberpunk genre.

Anime would be your best bet, at least it's what I think. Go for GITS (ghost in the shell), SE Lain has some cyberpunk aspects, and uhh crap. What's that one where it's a corrupt city or some shit? Oh, Metropolis. I think that cyberpunk. Haven't watched it myself, but the previews to it seemed badass.

The original Ghost in the Shell movie, and #2 if you want. But the series, while good, not the best example of cyberpunk.

Watch Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and 2nd GIG and you'll get immersion. :o
