Rik smirked as he left the building. He had a battle, an interrogation session, and a bit more information than he had began out with. This was turning into a very productive day. Zaku was only superficially tired from the battle, but Rik liked to keep his Pokémon in top condition all the time. He headed for the Pokémon Center.
He walked in the sliding doors to the familiar white atmosphere that all Pokémon Centers everywhere seemed to have in common. A woman with pink hair and a Chansey in a nurse's outfit greeted him at the door. "Hello. Welcome to the Veilstone Pokémon Center. How can we aid you today?" Rik shrugged. "Just a refresher, nothing big. Low-priority, if you're busy." The nurse smiled at him. "Oh, I'm sure we can work it in somewhere." Rik nodded and handed her Zaku's Pokéball, then sat down on one of hte benches near the door and let out his other main fighter, Alastor the Absol. Alastor shook his body as he came out, trying to get his fur just how he liked it. Rik smiled at him, watching his friend do whatever he could to make his coat shine. Of course he was just going to get it messed up again when he got into a battle, but Rik loved waching him futilely trying to impress the ladies that he wasn't about to interrupt him. It was a good day. OOC: Thanks to Roxas for updating your Pokémon. You could use some work on the trainer, but you're almost to posting potential.

Star was sleeping on the side of the balcony at the top of the Veilstone Department Store. She woke with a start after having a bad nightmare, rubbing her eyes. Looking around, she remembered that she was waiting for nightfall to try and get out of town before people she did not like found her. Stretching, she glimpsed the sun still setting over the horizon.
Huh, so it still isn't nightfall yet. Well, I guess that is okay, because evenif I run into that arrogent boy, I can atleast say I am sleepy and might take a nap at the Pokémon Center. Yeah, I can picture it now. "Hey, its you, that scardy-cat of a trainer I saw earlier today," he will say. "Oh no, its you," I will pretend to be frightened. "Why are you in the Pokémon Center? Do you like harassing trainers or something? Look, I do not have time. I still have to compete for ribbons, since I am done as a trainer. Since I heard that, at night, on certain days, rare Pokémon can be found, I will not allow my chance to catch a rare prize escape my hands. So, as you can see I am busy. Besides, when I get back, I will obviously be tired, so this battle will have to wait." Then I will storm out into the night, heading south. Just outside the town, a rare Pokémon will waltz right pass me. Like the clumsy person I am, I will stumble right in front of it, getting its attention. The Pokémon will then sniff me and call on all its friends. Yes, I will be surrounded by rare pokemon! When I head back, I will be surrounded by all the rare Pokémon and taunt him. "Ha, what's wrong, never caught any rare Pokémon like these?" I will ask. "Hahahah, well, I guess you aren't much of a Pokémon Hunter, tossing your Pokéballs at such normal Pokémon. Do not worry, you will be able to see them again on TV! Hahahah" "No, that sounds a bit mean," Star said outloud, realizinbg that she had made her way down the flight of stairs, outside, and a few feet from the Pokémon Center. Gripping her fingers into fists, she walked into the Pokémon Center, spotting Nurse Joy. Before she could ask for her Pokémon back, however, she gazed upon the very person she did not want to run into. "Oh great," Star mumbled to herself. |

Rik noticed the girl from earlier out of the corner of his eye. He reached up from playing with Alastor to wave at her. "Hey." He said in a fairly friendly tone.
He had no intention to start a battle inside the Pokémon Center. That was not only illegal but bad manners. "Besides," the thought to himself, "she probably doesn't even have her Pokémon with her." OOC: Yes, you're accepted. Your history is a bit short, but I can deal. Welcome aboard.

Jib walked slowly down the department store stairs, happy that that girl he had saw, had not noticed him.
He was sad, he wasn't able to catch any pokémon on his way to Veilstone. He had already put his pokémon in the Pokémon center, so he headed here to go get some potions, and hid himself behind some boxes on the roof, but why was he crying? He did not no himself, after the girl had left he did too. "Might as well go get some rest," he had whispered to himself, "besides, my pokémon are already fully rested." Jib walked into the Pokémon center, and saw two pokémon trainers, the girl from earlier, and a scary-looking guy. He ignored them as the best he could, he walked to Nurse Joy, "May i my pokémon please?" he said it in a low voice so the others couldn't hear, besides he didn't want to fight them. Nurse joy either ignored him, or didn't hear. He sat down at a nearby chair and just closed his eyes. "Hopefully, i can sleep without any interruptions." he thought to himself. |

Star waved to him, surprised by his kind ways. Walking over to Nurse Joy, she asked if her Pokémon were ready.
"Well, actually, your Beautifly and Piplup are still sleeping, but your Ponyta is wide awake," Nurse Joy replied happily. "Oh, then, may I please have Ember, er, my Ponyta, please?" Star asked, fixing her hat. "Here you go," Nurse Joy handed over Star's Ponyta. "Thank you," Star smiled then exited the Pokémon Center with Ember. As soon as she was outside, she returned Ember to her Pokéball. Walking down the now darkened Veilstone Town, she saw the way to Route 214. Seeing as she was not being followed, she hurriedly made her way south. Once outside of Vielstone Town, she began walking down the path, careful not to bump into trainers. "Hey, do you know what kind of Pokémon come out at night?" Star froze in her tracks, knowing this was a start of a battle. "My name is Jerry, a collector. A nerdy looking boy with short blue hair and glasses came up to Star. He chuckled creeply, holding a bag of Pokéballs. Backing up a bit in disgust, she knew she would have to battle him. Jerry started off first. He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a Pokéball. Tossing it forward while fixing his glasses, a red beam of light shot forth. It gained form as a beatiful Roselia came out, making the Collector look even more dull. Star smiled as she knew right away she was going to win with one hit. Spinning around on her left foot, she whipped her Pokéball off the side of her jeans where a red belt was. Arching her arms up, she took the Pokéball in her left hand, waved it down in a twisting motion, moved her hand back (like she was about to bowl) and hurled the ball in the air. "Come on out, EMBER!" She introduced, leaping into the air to catch the ball before landing right beside her ponyta, fixing her hat. "Let's finish this quickly! Use ember!" Ember released sparks of fire from her mouth as it headed straight for Roselia, who cried in pain as leafs surrounding it fell to the ground. The shocked trainer ran to its Pokémon, unable to speak. Finally, he stood up, fixing his glasses once again. "At night, you will find both grass Pokémon and more," Jerry's glasses managed to shine, even though the moon was not even that bright. "Beware, for some rare Pokémon can be found on days like this--hey!" Star was racing down the path, even though Jerry was holding another Pokéball. Before he could catch up to her, she was gone from sight. He kicked the ground, waiting for another opponent. ((I would of had more, but Bulbapedia shut down on me Also, sorry for making a NPC to fight against. )) |

Rik was sorting through his information in his laptop as Zaku got the royal treatment. Alastor lay beside him, crooning softly from Rik's body heat. With his computer plugged in to the local outlet he contacted his old friend GerGUI@voltorbbeat.com to compare notes.
What's up? came the message. I'm in Veilstone. Just got done cleaning out the Galactic hideout. There were a couple of grunts to interrogate, but Galactic was thourough with their cleanup. There was *nothing* left but dust and Starly nests in that building. So what did the interrogatees have to say? There's a new spike in Galactic activity near the Survival Area up on the Northeastern Island. They think that there may be something big in the waters around the island. That's close to home for you, isn't it? Taking a personal interest in this one? Rik chuckled. Nah. I know the Northeastern Island. They're not going to take any crap. I'm more worried in why the grunts didn't know anything about more local activities. I mean, Galactic never made a point of informing the peons, but... The Dark-type trainer's fingers moved like dancers across his keyboard, and their conversation went on for quite a while. Out of all of it, Rik dscovered what GerGUI found out: another increase in Galactic activity was seen in Pastoria City, a little south of his current location. Evidently the Great Marsh drew them in. Rik was to head there and investigate. But he needed a partner. If he had learned anything it was that things always went better with company, and battles were always less of a threat when you had someone to watch your back. He needed someone to travel with and crusade with against Team Galactic. He just hoped he could catch up to her in time.

Star was happy that she managed to not have to finish fighting all the remaining, meaningless Pokémon the Pokémon trainer Jerry had.
Collectors. All they do is find Pokémon and then keep them to fight. I wonder if they even try to train atleast one of their Pokémon. Honestly, it is a waste of...time. She suddenly stopped, her eyes gazing upon something lying in front of her. Star grew closer, hoping to not wake whatever was on the ground by the Valor Lake. Then she saw something glowing by it. Could it be...a rare Pokémon? She made her way over, finally finding out what the glowing "Pokémon" was. A rock? What a let down. Wait, this...this is a Pokémon! Oh no! She picked the poor Pokémon up, which happened to be a Glaceon. It was breathing softly, but harshly. It was tied up with a rope, tightly around its legs and body. The Pokémon could have not been there for a long time, but it was obvious that it had been tied for quite some time. Even though it was by the lake side, it was burning up. Star held it carefully in her arms, and it began to stranggle. "P-please, let me help you!" Star exclaimed over a sorrowful cry. "I w-won't hurt you, so please, let me help you!" The Glaceon calmed down a bit, snuzzling its head into her jacket. She smiled, hurrying back to the Pokémon Center, hoping not to run into any other trainers. Jerry was waiting by the front, debating whether he should tend to his own Pokémon at the Pokémon Center, at the entrance to Veilstone Town. He was going to stop whoever came in his way. |

Rik packed up his laptop and accepted Zaku's Pokéball from the nurse, then headed out of the Pokémon Center with Alastor following behind him. He was intent on finding that trainer from earlier, simply to have somepleace to start from. Even if she didn't want to help him or was too weak to make a difference, it would give him something to do.
Exiting out the front door he noticed three things. The first was the girl he had been looking for, charging straight towards the door of the Pokémon Center. The second was the small blueish-green thing in her arms. The third was the guy standing next to the door with that familiarly competitive look in his eye. Rik didn't need a Docterate to figure out what he needed to do. "Hey!" he yelled at the kid, though he couldn't have been standing more than ten feet away. "You've got Pokémon. Let's battle, kiddo. I wanna see what you got!" The young man, a collector by the tone of his skin, stared at him. "What are you saying? A battle? Here?" Rik looked dumbstruck. "What, are you stupid or something? I don't see any other trainers around here. I just hope your Pokémon are brighter than you are..." Of course the idiot fell for it. "What? I'll teach you a lesson, 'kiddo!' Go, Crobat!" He threw his Pokéball into the air, summoning a purpleish, four-winged batlike thing into the field. Rik nodded at Alastor to go forward, and the Disaster Pokémon was only too happy to oblige. Rik turned to the girl as she passed, smiling and winking at her.

Star saw Rik wink at her and blushed.
Eek, wait, I shouldn't be blushing. He was only doing that to battle someone. Yeah! But, why did he wink? Aaah, no, no, no, no, no, no! He just wanted me to respond or something! Yeah! It meant nothing, right? Well, no time to think about that! I have to get this Pokémon to the Pokémon Center. Once inside the Pokémon Center, she rushed to Nurse Joy. She was talking to another Pokémon trainer, but he left a bit after she entered. The pink haired woman looked shocked that she was carrying such an injured Pokémon in here hands. She also seemed a bit mad. "How could you let this Glaceon get this beat up?" Nurse Joy tried to yell. "Is this the way trainers take care of their Pokémon, putting them into battle after they caught them. And where is the poor Pokémon's Pokéball?" "Please, this is not my Pokémon," Star pleaded. "I found it by Valor Lake on Route 214. Can you please heal it?" "Oh my, I apalogize for my assumptions," Nurse Joy replied. "Well, the way she is snuggled up to you, I just thought you were careless. But this is strange. Why would a Glaceon be here?" "I found it--er, her, tied up by the lake side," Star explained. "So I think someone abandoned her." "Yes, I can imagine that," Nurse Joy murmure to herself. "Nevermind that. This Pokémon will need intense care. I will try to see what I can do." "Thank you very much," Star said before sitting down, awaiting the moment the poor Pokémon would be cured. I wonder how that trainer is going. Well, I think Jerry is in more trouble than that trainer... |
