"Argh! Magneton!" The collector yelled as his Pokémon hit the ground, passed out from overexertion. Alastor got as close to a smirk as a Pokémon could as he trotted back to Rik.

"Perfect job, Alastor. Take a break, 'kay?" Rik took out an Ultra Ball and returned his Pokémon to it. Then he looked back up to his opponent and smirked. "Aw, is that it? I was hoping for a challenge. Oh, wait! You're just holding back! Toying with me, right?"

The blue-haired collector grimaced as he reached for another Pokéball. "Erg! I'll show you! Come out, Prinplup!"

The light subsided to reveal a blueish penguin-like Pokémon with a couple of yellow ridges on its head. It shook itself and called its name as it got ready to battle. Rik, of course, was unamused. "Damn, and I thought this was going to be fun. Alright, Kaine, your turn!"

From Rik's Pokéball came a large, black bird. It crowed twice and circled the Water-type below it. "Let's have some fun with this one, Kaine. Take your time."

His enemy was slightly less intent on a long battle. "Prinplup, hit it with a Bubblebeam!"

His Pokémon opened its mouth, drawing a huge breath and letting it loose in a huge stream of bubbles. Kaine was faster, though, and evaded easily to the side, squaking elatedly at the chance to hit something. It barrel-rolled in midair and came back down in a swooping attack, knocking the penguin flat.

It was far from over. The blue-haired man shouted another order at his Pokémon. "Metal Claw!"

The blue bird jumped at Kaine, trying to slash him with razor-sharp claws. Kaine squaked and held up a single wing, knocking the offending Pokémon back. Rik sneered "Enough. This bores me. Kaine, get in there with Aerial Ace and shut it down."

Kaine crowed in agreement and did a quick and impressive corkscrew, looping and flying straight into his target's chest. This time the Prinplup didn't get up. Rik chuckled again. "That enough, or do you want some more?" His opponent simply growled and returned his fainted Pokémon to their Pokéballs.

Rik laughed and turned around, going back inside to see what the rush had been. The girl from eariler was sitting in a chair beside the desk. He went up to her and took the seat directly beside her. "Hey. How's it goin'?"

Star was surprised by the boy's sudden kindness. Shaking her head, she looked down, a bit sad.

"I found a Glaceon by Valvor Lake. She was tied up with ropes and was barely breathing. I gave her to Nurse Joy, but she has not come out yet. I think that poor Glaceon was seriously injured. I just want to know what kind of person could abandon a Pokémon like that, harming it in such a way, and leave it there. Oh, sorry for rambling."

She looked over at a door directly behind Nurse Joy's office area (or whatever it is called). She had went inside with the injured Glaceon, staying in there for nearly an hour. When Star tried to enter, Nurse Joy kindly asked her to wait outside.

"Would you ever imagine yourself harming your Pokémon like that?" Star suddenly asked. "Probably not. You seem like a good trainer. Oh! I never introduced myself! My name is Star, Star Marriott. Nice to meet you!"

Rik laughed. This Star was such a bubbly girl that she was able to turn a depressing story into a comedy. It was refreshing. "Richard Netherland. Call me Rik. The pleasure's all mine." He took her hand with a smirk and gave it a quick chivalrous-style kiss.

Ignoring the blushing he continued. "So, time for a random conversation-starter. What's your stance on Team Galactic?"

Star blushed a bit, but regain composure.

"Umm, Team Galactic?" She pondered her memory a bit. "Let me see, if I am correct, they were villians who had spread TV commercials, hoping to collect every single Pokémon people owned. They also were trying to recreate a new world, using Dialga of time and Palkia of Space, right?"

She was curious to why Rik wanted to know so much.

He nodded. "Right. The thugs who went around tormenting trainers and poaching rare Pokémon under the guidance of their last leader, Cyrus. Now they're active again under Saturn. I'm trying to figure out what they're up to and what I can do to stop it, but it's slow going alone, and they're not waiting for me to get my act together."

He resituated himself. "I need help, and I'm going to ask you for it. You look you know the ropes and could keep up, and maybe you know some things that I don't. Whaddaya say?"

Jib walked up slowly and asked the Nurse, "May i please have my pokémon back?" he said it louder than usual, but he wanted to make sure the Nurse heard him.

"One moment please," she turned around and went to go get them, "Here you are,sir."

Slaph was Full of happiness to see Jib, but the others were to, except maybe, Q she looked a little joyful, but it went away afterwards.

Hiz wrapped himself around Jib, almost choking him.

Spike almost attacked him, because it looked like a quick attack, but, when he came up to Jib, he just hugged him.

Q Threw a bone at Jib, which made him a little angry.

Slaph looked angry because the others were all over Jib, but, she let out some pokémon language, and the others, looked angry at Jib also, because he was probably late with picking them up.

He whispered really low, " Sorry for being late, but can you go back into your Pokéballs now, please?"

They nodded slightly, then one by one Jib put them into their Pokéballs.

"Team Galactic, are you after them?" he said is quickly and a little angry, he know it may of been rude to eavesdrop, but, it was not Intentional, they were loud.

Rik took it in stride. "Yeah. I've been after these guys for about three years now, but they're doing all they can to cover their tracks. I missed them at Veiltone earlier, and even Eterna, but not now. I think I've got them on the run. It's just..."

He sighed and looked ashamed. "They've got me outnumbered. I've no doubt I could beat any of them individually, or even as a team. But when they swarm, like they're so prone to doing, I'll be overwhelmed. I need someone," (or even better, two someones) he though to himself, "to watch my back."

I need to know why, maybe our reasons are the same, maybe their not, either way were both after Team Galactic.
