I have tried WoW for a few days. Both games are pretty different. I remember first playing WoW, wasn't bad. I haven't experienced WoW PvP. Hearing from others, Guild Wars PvP will require more tactics, strategy. There are a lot of different PvP types. Anyway should you want to PvP right away, make a PvP character, Random Arenas should be your first choice of PvP. At first, it may seem very difficult to win. Once you unlock more skills and get to know more about builds, winning won't be a problem.

Also, where are you downloading this trial? I think you need a trial key in order to play the game. To get a better response, I'd suggest you head over to
http://guildwarsguru.com
Here, moderators, site admins, and even staff from ArenaNet(company behind GW) may reply to your questions. Hope I helped!

ya Guild Wars uses WASD controls if I recall the pvp Is room based aswell but the game has a guild function thats really REALLY sweet because you can own guild and own a guild hall right and buy defenses and NPCs to make it your personal little town for your guilds use only. So when you declare war on a guild and you or they attack you, you or them raid each others fort and yes the guild halls are setup like a fort. Also unlike WoW Guild Wars has subjobs o.o like for example when I used to play I was a Warrior/Necromancer, people thought it was weird but it was actually pretty strong xD you can combine a bunch of different classes together if you like.

P.S. you keep making like 20 threats on the same question please stick to one cause I posted this same reply on one of your other threads which you never looked at or replied too.

Guild wars focuses so much on PvP, so if you don't like PvP, it's not the game for you.

That being said, the deep values it has are astounding. There are several modes of play in PvP(with each expansion, that is) and you will probably never get bored because every battle has it's flaws and strengths, and you also use wit and agility to a very high extent.

In WoW, PvP is pretty much, move here, cast that, ok heal this, ok you're dead. In Guild Wars, it's like move here, cast a spirit helper there to increase my regen, cast buffs on all my party members, maintain the buffs while switching multiple targets and firing spells left and right all the same while trying to not get killed by opposing team mates.

It's fun.

There's 10 different professions in Guild Wars, to which you can add a secondary profession, so that's 90 (?) different combinations that have their own strengths and weaknesses.

I've not gotten into PVP as I'm more into casual PVE, plus I have an intermittent broadband connection and slow PC that would warrant my instant death if ever I'd step into the PVP arenas.

But from what I've tried (Random Arenas, Alliance Battle), the PVP is fun and could get even more addictive than bashing away at PVE mobs.

There are 10-hour trial keys being given away, like the other posters said you could get a key, then build a level 20 character for PVP and check out the scene

how long does it take to get to level 20?

1 more question, will guildwars 2 be a totaly different game than gw or another expansion like EoTN, Nightfall, and factions?

You can make a level 20 PVP-only character right away, it will have access to all the skills, runes and weapon modifications that you have unlocked in your account. It will be limited to PVP-only play, though.

PVE (or roleplaying) characters on the other hand can go PVE, and once properly equipped, can join PVP.

Following the storyline (recommended the first time you go through), characters created in the first and third campaigns (Prophecies and Nightfall, respectively) can reach max level from a day or two to a week, depending on how you play.

Meanwhile, characters created in the second campaign (Factions) can get to max level in as little as a day or two due to the nature of its early / training quests

Of course, you can "powerlevel" your characters to level 20 in a manner of hours, but that's only for succeeding characters, not recommended for newbies or those who'd like to follow the storyline.

GW2 takes place a hundred years or so after GW1. It's still set in Tyria, but will be very different from the first game. GW2 will be a different game, you can play GW2 even if you've not tried GW1.

GW2 however will give bonuses (exact nature unknown yet) for GW1 players who have purchased the Eye of the North expansion and recorded their achievements at the Hall of Monuments, and who will link their GW1 and GW2 accounts together.

This is the developers' compromise of the players not being able to bring their GW1 stuff and wealth over to GW2, but having something else to show for what you did in GW1.

Well i've played WoW before so yeah, you'd like it but heres a little about it.

Prohpechies(Guild Wars):The first Core campeign that i would start with if i were you, that way you get most of the basic skills and all of the basic classes. It takes place on the contentient Tyria

Factions:This one is better for leveling fast level twenties and it has some nice skills that are needed for builds, it also gives you two new classes the assiasn and the ritiulasit. It also gives you the ability to have a faction like kurzick or Luxon which you do alliance battles in, don't mistake it for Horde PvP stuff tho theres no World PvP at all but you go to the battle isles or your guildhall and you go to the AB, but its still pretty fun most of the PvP is like BG's In WoW so yeah. Takes place in the continent of Cathana

Nightfall:This one is my favorite expansion because of heros which are very useful in PvE and For Hero PvP which is kinda like 1v1.The heros arent like the henchies ethier they are fully customizable. And you get NICE skills. This takes place on the continent of elonia. You also get two new classes Dervish and Paragon.

Eyes Of The North:And expansion for level 20's only which is really fun theres some nice skills and theres the infamous rep grinds, but they are waaaay easier then the WoW rep grinds. It also has nice drops.

Other Stuff In GW that is Like Wow

Hard Mode, Its like Heroic in WoW Because you have to beat the entire campeign for one story line to unlock it.

Classes.

Assiasan:Like the rouge in Wow does HUUUGEE damage but no stealth so you pretty much go in there and kill kill kill

Monk:Think of priests and shadow priests, healing monks are awesome and the other types of monks are really cool like the 55 Monk can solo ALOT of things.

Elementalist:Kinda like a mage with all the elements unlocked instead of just fire and water, with no arcane tho.

Ranger:Basic idea like a hunter just a few different things you can even mele as one.You also get a pet.

Mesmers:Just like a Lock kinda with out the Demon pet, they have Alot of DoT's

Warrior:Just like the WoW warrior, but doesnt suck and is only good for tanking, =D.

Necromancer:Also kind of like a lock has alot of DoT's and can raise minions from the dead.

Thats it on the WoW related ones.

Heres a full list.

Prophecies:
Warrior
Mesmer
Elementalist
Monk
Ranger

Factions:
All of those listed in prophs
assiasan
Ritiulaist

Nightfall.
Dervish
Paragon
And all those listed in prophs

Also, for weapons, once you have a max weapon, you pretty much have the best unless you want a cooler skin etc.

And in WoW How when you go outside of a town, theres other people, In GW when you go out side a town, its like an instance.

guild wars only has like 20 levels but it makes up for all the crazy stuff it has like the guild creation is just nutty...u have ur own private guild hall wich is pratically like a clan base..u get to design ur own guild capes and pvp is awsome.. and also the best classes are assasin and derv...the best mixed class is probally dervish/monk..ull know what the classes are like when u aacctually play the game or if u..

I don't think GW2 is 100Years, i think it's 10, After all, in the trailer, it says 10 years later, And Gwen is in it, She is now 22 Years old ;D.
